When my husband and his brother had to decide whether or not to sell the 40 acres they owned in southern Illinois, we drove there to see it. The neighboring farmer who wanted to buy it pointed out the luxuriously growing poison ivy and said it has been getting a lot worse. Separate study shows that poison ivy loves higher CO2 levels.
Poison ivy grows much better on formerly plowed ground. Goats are one way of getting rid of it, they eat it (in the words of one of my departed granduncles) “like it’s candy”. It is true (saw it done) but it’s really weird.
