Sorry, just curious. What is this “this” that he might be innocent of. Did I miss something?

as in, hunter came in lunden’s mouth (or other non-vaginal orifice).
thus, there was no intent to impregnate by hunter.
then, lunden retires to the bathroom, whips out a turkey baster, and impregnates herself.
thus, hunter could be angry because in this scenario he would in fact be an unintentional father of lunden’s child.
if lunden is cunning enough to entrap hunter for regular sex, then (in theory) perhaps she could go one step further and try the turkey baster trick.
otoh, joe should have taken hunter aside and explained the possibility that all of this could happen to him because of his status as a rich (and corrupt) politician’s son. for all we know, joe did have the conversation with hunter, but hunter ignored it or forgot it.
back to the current situation as is commonly known so far, hunter will need to be employed by a cutout of the democratic party machine to be able to afford payments to lunden under the negotiated settlement. under the circumstances, $30k/mo does not seem that outlandish. maybe settle at $15k/mo. that is $180k/yr. add taxes and hunter’s new wife and child, and hunter becomes a $500k/yr “political consultant” expense to the democratic cutout organization. either that, or lunden meets with an unfortunate accident. under the protection of her watchful parents, lunden is probably “unreachable.”
joe could campaign a lot, and fold early. he could redirect his campaign funds to a liberal think tank which (voila) coincidentally just happens to have hired hunter for his unique political acumen and uncanny polling analysis ability.
