Definitely a "glass half full" kind of person.

Looking at the video in the original article, it looks like compressor stall to me. Dramatic, but ultimately not dangerous.

“Were flames seen by Wing?”
“Yes”
“May I speak with him? He could have valuable information.”
“No. they took him to the hospital.”
“Hospital? What is it?”
“It’s a big building full of sick people. But that’s not important now. I must speak with Wing.”
“But he got sick!”
“Over Macho Grande?”
“Oh, I don’t think he’ll ever get over that. Those wounds run pretty deep.”

I kept reassuring myself wed be OK because we had only been in the air for a minute. Most air crashes occur due to problems occurring within 10 minutes of take-off.

Amazing what makes the news today.
“The airline said the flight landed safely and passengers deplaned normally.”
I was a flight attendant for the same airline and was involved in emergency landings a few times. Evacuated the passengers down the slides. Never made the news. They really do try to keep it quiet, but now passengers run to the media.

And then again at landing.
I always say a silent prayer of thanks at 10,000 feet, and then again after wheels down.

Headquarters? What is it?
It’s a big building with Generals, but that’s not important right now.

I was on a plane that had a compressor stall at cruising altitude a few years ago. The pilot came on with the situation, and claimed he had been flying for 40 years and had never had that happen.
It does seem that there have been more of these lately - is this just more drama reporting, or is something else going on - aging engines maybe?
