Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will lose their HRH titles after stepping back as senior members of the Royal Family, Buckingham Palace has announced.
This means the Duke and Duchess of Sussex can no longer formally represent the Queen.
It is not yet clear if they will be able to keep their SussexRoyal online branding or will attend formal family events such as Trooping the Colour.
The decision was reached on Saturday after Palace aides spent days thrashing out a new arrangement for the young couple.

At least Meghan won’t have to dress like a frumpy old woman anymore. Those clothes they made her wear were awful. Princess Diana always dressed stylishly and beautifully and not frumpy! I looked up how much Meghan’s clothes, shoes, purses, hats cost. OUTRAGEOUS! More than I have spent on wardrobe in my almost 70 years. and I dress nice enough.
“You wonder how it is, that he married her. A young man in his position certainly would have had a large selection of lovely young ladies to choose from, to be a potential bride. yet he chose her.”
The reason is clear. Look at his family. They are low lifes.
He’s one, too.
It’s not hard to understand.
Inbreds. Charles and Diana were cousins as were all except Kate and Megan.
At least one of his previous girlfriends didn’t want the royal life - it’s no picnic.
Obamas.
I watched the movie Downtown Abbey and couldn’t believe the submissive attitude displayed towards the king and I imagine the movie wasn’t far from the truth. It’s something we Americans just don’t get.
I read your profile and it shows you are from California.
If I had to guess I would say you are over 80 years old, and had spent a lot of time on the East Coast in he Boston or NY area in the 1940s. Close?
You can freep-mail me, or put an answer to my post on the list or just say nothing. Anyway, Good Luck. - Tom
Maybe Harry wants his own life and wants out of the life of royalty.
Meghan hates President Trump, loves the Obamas and has been threatening a tell-all sitdown with Oprah. I just hope they stay in Canada.
“The couple, who will be known as Harry, Duke of Sussex and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, will stop carrying out royal duties from the spring.” https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7902593/Harry-Meghan-LOSE-HRH-titles-REPAY-2-4million-public-cash.html
How so? Prince Harry was exemplary. He was down to earth, a respected British military guy son of Diana, good lookin
He gave everything away for this woman. Hes going to end up in a bad way and no role model at all.
We wonder what about a man who dumps everything to live his life on the whipping post.
Its an old story but it is a wreck.
“Queen is utter garbage herself,”
Your post makes sense, if “Finnigan” is your name. As for me, I admire Queen Elizabeth.
“If I had to guess I would say you are over 80 years old, and had spent a lot of time on the East Coast in he Boston or NY area in the 1940s. Close?”
Hi Tom.
No. I’m under 60. From my great grandparents down, my family had been in CA nearly a hundred years now.
Before that total American and no east coast.
Southern and settler ancestors. Son of Revolution, Son of Texas, Son of Union, Son of Confederacy.
That north eastern seaboard is like a foreign country to me.
How bout you?
It is said love is blind. After a whirlwind courtship,a spectacular wedding, their decision to lavishly renovated and furnish Frogmore cottage away from Williams family, the birth of their son Archie, and many expensive vacations, their decision to spend Christmas away from the Royal Family in Canada, Harry and Meghan chose to leave the royal family and live independent lives.
I feel so badly for Queen Elizabeth. She and her beloved family were rejected by Prince Harry and Meghan. She sadly bowed to the wishes of her grandson and had no other choice but to remove HRH titles from Harry and Meghan. Now Meghan can pursue her acting career and The pair can campaign for activities near and dear to their hearts, paid for by mega rich activists.
“Your post makes sense, if Finnigan is your name. As for me, I admire Queen Elizabeth.”
Finnegan is not my name but my last name is just as Irish - northern Irish.
That doesn’t mean I am particularly Irish. I am American, going back on all sides to before the Revolution. With ancestry and DNA it’s now possible to know a lot more.
Why do you admire QEII?
Are there any other contemporary royals you admire?
I always sensed that was the case. When he was in the army, he wanted to be deployed with the rest of his unit but wasnt because of security concerns, something that allegedly upset him greatly. He was eventually deployed and served in Afghanistan as a combat co-pilot and gunner on an Apache helicopter and seemed to love the life of a soldier and a regular bloke. He had to give a couple of interviews while on the base in Afghanistan (at Camp Bastion) and seemed really uncomfortable doing so. I think if he had had any say in the matter, he would have remained in the military. But he couldnt because as a Royal he had to assume his royal duties.
“Are there any other contemporary royals you admire?”
Actually, I don’t think so. I like Queen E. ‘cause she seems to have stayed decent, traditional, and classy, and was involved in WWII. I understand that some of the photos of her then were staged, but still... Maybe William and Kate in UK (time will tell). Other than that, nope. The concept of “royalty” is goofy, though.
I’m English going back on all sides before the Revolution (like you). Lore has it that one of my dad’s great-great grandmothers was Seneca Indian. (Probably true. Grandpa and Dad both looked Indian, and other Indians have approached them about that.) Other than that... just English AFAIK.
now that is funny.
oh, i don’t know.
when my hubs and i got married, we wanted to be free and live our lives like we wanted to. We both came from rather controlling families.
we’ve been married for 43 years, and it’s been him and me. (plus 2 kids) We’re not real close to the families we moved away from. and we have been happy to do as we pleased, when we wanted to do it. As opposed to consulting the family to buy a car, take a vacation, get a new job.
Maybe Harry always wanted to be on his own, and he met Wallis, and the rest is history all over again.
Born in 1935, and raised in Boston , worked there all my working life.
Retired, and now living a few miles south of Boston in America's most Irish town, Scituate, Ma.
It would be very difficult to get across to any young Americans, or US citizens, the dislike Americans had for the British in the 30s and 40s-and their Royalty. It is a different world now.
I can renember bring in the movies in the 1940s, and the newsreel between double features, showing battles of ww2 and when Churchill would be on screen, and give his famous two finger V for vicory sign, some of the adults' would say "The bloody Brit" wants another two million from us."
Different times than today. -Tom
