S, theoretically, if a person was interested in sabotaging a large transformer one would first want to disable the reclosers upstream? Asking for a friend.

Recloser is circuit breaker that since amperage spikes on the grid and opens the circuit for a period of time then closes the circuit again and if the spike is gone will remain closed if not it will cycle.
A tree falling into the conductor would act as a filament like in a light bulb but would burn up in time hopefully before the recloser cycles out and remains open. Then the utility sends a crew to reset it.

To answer your question no. Most likely a conductor failure will occur.
