The Weekly Gardening Thread is a weekly gathering of folks that love soil, seeds and plants of all kinds. From complete newbies that are looking to start that first potted plant, to gardeners with some acreage, to Master Gardener level and beyond, we would love to hear from you.
If you have specific question about a plant/problem you are having, please remember to state the Growing Zone where you are located.
This thread is non-political respite. No matter what, you wont be flamed, and the only dumb question is the one that isnt asked.
It is impossible to hijack the Weekly Gardening Thread. Planting, Harvest to Table Recipes, Preserving, Good Living - there is no telling where it will go - and that is part of the fun and interest. Jump in and join us! Send a Private Message to Diana in Wisconsin if you'd like to be added to our New & Improved Ping List.
NOTE: This is a once a week Ping List. We do post to the thread during the week. Links to related articles and discussions which might be of interest to Gardeners are welcomed any time!
Hi, nice picture. Our driveway is steeper than that and icy right now. Getting ready to throw down some more salt. That’s my gardening report. LOL
Nothing cuter than any baby ‘critter.’ :)
brrrrrrrrrr
Or TWO! :-)
Have any on Biden?
Beautiful! It would be a crime to eat them.
Off to get a little bit of potting mix for my celery which has been growing in water for about two weeks.
Does anyone know why nurseries outside the US are prohibited from sending this plant to someone in country, and, more importantly, does anyone know how I could purchase one and plant it in my backyard?
Well, they ARE on the Endangered list so that’s probably part of the problem right there, as to why they’re not exported/imported. I’m sure it’s illegal, for starters.
They’re losing a lot of them to the Australian wild fires from what I’ve read. :(
I read that they saved the grove. Also, nurseries in UK and Australia ship the seeds and small pines to every other country except the US.
Does the USDA Site say why? That’s the only place I can think to look.
I wouldn’t advise breaking the law for a tree, though. ;)

There are special customs restrictions for importing live plant material, including seeds.
If you have a source for the tree, I’d suggest contacting seed companies that already bring plants and seeds in from other countries. I know Baker Creek send their seed hunters all over the world. If this tree is special, and can’t be gotten in the US, they might be interested.
No guarantees, but even if they don’t decide to import it for their own catalog, they might be able to point you in the right direction.
