The Facts:By comparing traits of psychopaths, as determined by experts, to those of people in corporate or political positions of power, we can see a clear link.
Reflect On:Psychopaths feel no remorse, guilt or empathy for their actions. When we look at the many inhumane acts that are currently taking place on our planet, it begs the following question with judgement aside: Are psychopaths running our world?
Editors Note: We felt this was important to discuss, not from a place of judgement and fear but one of observation so we can ask important questions as to whether or not we want to keep supporting the world we are co-creating at this time.
Often when we think of the word psychopath, we think of deranged serial killers that are hopefully locked up in prison for life. While there are many psychopaths who kill for reasons that are unfathomable to most of us and who are indeed in prison, there is an even greater number roaming free in our society and often using their condition to their advantage in any way possible. In fact, it is very likely that you know somethey might even be your colleagues.
Most of us do not know or work with any serial killers, at least not that we are aware of. So, what exactly is a psychopath and how can we define them? The dictionary definition is as follows:
A person suffering from a chronic mental disorder with abnormal or violent social behavior.
As you can probably tell, a lot more than just serial killers will fit into this broad definition. In fact, according to Canadian psychologist Dr. Robert Hare, a world-renowned expert on psychopathy, an estimated 1% of the Earths population is psychopathic and around

Corps seek them out. Had a buddy that did c level recruiting. He was told to hire psychopaths and would test for them. Worked directly for a few myself. I can name one that got some press when he worked a “deal” with NJ port authority official (airline gates.) First time I met him I knew what he was. Board of the company moved him to CEO as fast as they could even over many objections. It did not work out well for them.
That’s a different pay.
Dont forget higher education!
Yes.. For at least the last 70 yrs.
“there is an even greater number roaming free in our society and often using their condition to their advantage in any way possible.”
By that definition aren’t we all psychos to a lesser and greater extent?
Who among us doesn’t look out for our self interest (as each one of us defines it) first and foremost?
“Ummm? The Clintons, the Obamas, Pelosi, Schiff, Schumer, Northam and the whole demoKKKrat party leadership come to mind.”
Why not the power hungry Republicans. Why isn’t Trump, the Bushes, McConnell etc. on your list?
It’s because their interests are the same as yours and you give them your vote because you know they are capable of fighting for your shared interest better than you can on your own!
You see, people like that when they’re on you side you call them “strong leaders”, when they’re on the other side they’re “psychopaths”.
As in everything else, it all depends whose ox is getting gored.
Bottom line, this is an idiotic article.
“Yes because psychopaths are willing to ignore the social boundaries of propriety and decency. They will push the edge of the envelope wherever it needs to go.”
Trump comes to mind, but I’m sure you like him. (I like him too)
“If the corporations run by psychopaths compete more successfully in the marketplace, then why would they want to exclude them?”
CGBG explained it in Post 24.
The psychopath - even non-violent “sociopaths” - only operate for themselves and typically leave a scorched earth in their wake. They end up destroying entities, not saving them. That’s because they are only interested in themselves, the greater good be damned.
Corporations that tolerate that end up going down in the end. Been there, seen that.
Yes.
“Corporations that tolerate that end up going down in the end.”
Obviously that can’t actually be true or people would have stopped hiring them long ago, or corporations that continued to hire them would all be defunct and we wouldn’t be discussing this.
Believe what you want, as I said, been there seen that.
Maybe you could provide an example of a corporation being more successful then another when run by an individual who willfully commits acts of violence, engages in threatening behavior towards those around them, and in general skews the rules to reward themselves disproportionately and with out regard for shareholder value.
Since you seem to believe that such behavior is acceptable in places like public companies.
Yeah. I remember Smisek.
“The desire to rule is the mother of all heresies.”
John Chrysostom
“The desire to rule is the mother of all heresies.”

Ah, but that’s your personal definition, not the actual clinical definition of the type of person we’re talking about. So I’m not playing that game.
The fact is, if sociopaths running corporations led to the corporation failing, then the problem would have solved itself long ago and we wouldn’t be discussing it. We are discussing it, therefore that cannot have happened.

No, bottom line is it's a well written factual article.
Perhaps it just hits too close to home?
The reason I didn't mention Republicans (and there are many RINOs that come to mind such as Bush and McConnell) is that there is a mountain of difference between the two political parties and the degree and rapidity that they are damaging America.
I have no use for Bush or McConnell, and politicians like them including Romney, Collins, Murkowski and a bunch of other self serving RINOs.
#12 and HOA’s ! : )
From the American Heritage Dictionary for Psychopath:
“A person with a personality disorder indicated by a pattern of lying, cunning, manipulating, glibness, exploiting, heedlessness, arrogance, delusions of grandeur, sexual promiscuity, low self-control, disregard for morality, lack of acceptance of responsibility, callousness, and lack of empathy and remorse. Such an individual may be especially prone to violent and criminal offenses”
Seems to fit my definition just fine.
Keep trying.
HOAs are like 1000s of little Dictator Schiffs running around.
“I have no use for Bush or McConnell, and politicians like them including Romney, Collins, Murkowski and a bunch of other self serving RINOs.”
Why didn’t you include Trump? He’s about as ego driven as they come, yet you like him (and so do I). That is, as long as he advances the agenda you (and I) are in favor of.
Take your blinders off and realize (and be honest with yourself) that everyone, you included, watch out for your self interests (as you see them) first and foremost.
The only difference between you and Trump or Obama is that they are much better at mobilizing (leading) the masses to follow them than you are. And part of what makes them that much more effective is their outsized egos.
You cannot be a leader without a big ego.
