Anti-bicycle posts will be seen as trolling so let’s agree now to go separate ways. Thank you.

Anybody into Winter Mt. Biking? I enjoy it as there are fewer hikers/other bikers/bears in the woods at this time of the year.

Rode a short 25 with my wife yesterday. She is just learning to ride at 55!
The clipped pedals are giving her a little trouble but she can maintain 18 mph no prob!
Can’t believe we can ride in January February

New Study Says Bicycles Are the Future of Urban Transportation
A recent study by Deloitte, one of the largest consulting firms in the world, has highlighted the important role that bicycles will play in the coming years in easing traffic congestion and improving urban air quality and public health, especially in cities as they become more heavily populated.

Overall, Deloitte is predicting that the number of people who bike to work will double in many major cities around the world by 2022.

These are exciting times in the electric bicycle world. E-bike offerings are constantly improving and customers are getting increasingly higher quality bikes for ever-better deals.

Every bicycle I’ve ever owned has been stolen. Except my current one.

Very good.
I been riding four years and this was the first January I kept riding. My Google Calendar shows 12 rides for about 95 miles.
Last week we were looking at bicycles for our daughter and my wife tried to ride a bike while I held her.
I said we will get her an adult tricycle. They are expensive but I am willing to save for a few months, I told her.

Keep two bicycles.
An older one for locking and a new one you stay on.

I made a few forest rides recently and got caked in mud.
Now I am like: OK I had enough of that.

We’ve been luckier. The ground is mostly free of snow, but frozen. Almost like riding on bumpy pavement.

My Google Calendar shows 12 rides for about 95 miles.
I use these apps/services...
STRAVA bicycle app
IfThisThenThat (IFTTT)
Google Calendar

I ride my bicycle with the STRAVA app recording data about my ride,
Then when I end the ride in STRAVA, IFTTT automatically posts numbers about the ride to Google Calendar.
Which is a nice way to see my rides.

You can search the web for these things (I use them for free).

The C&O bike trail is one of the greatest experiences of a lifetime. It runs from the Watergate Hotel in Washington, DC to Cumberland, Maryland. 185 miles. And thereafter it becomes the GAP trail and continues on to Pittsburgh.

Once you get out of Georgetown, you will have 185 miles of rural landscape along the river.

There are interesting historical artifacts along the way such as the Paw Paw Tunnel.

My recommendation is to get a hybrid bike with fenders. The trail is well maintained, however inevitably you will hit a puddle. If you don't have fenders you will end up covered in mud. Now I'm not afraid of mud, but it is no fun to go into a restaurant covered in mud. Then again, if you are a badass, maybe it is fun! LOL

There are plenty of guides on the net. Just do a Google search.

Here is an example

IFTTT posts meters.
The weather is another IFTTT "applet" that posts the weather each day at 8am.

Sweet. I love riding along a river.
In the summer I follow a river to a lake and then have a swim.
You might keep an eye out for a swim along your ride.
