They thought she was making it all up. It cost a little boy his life.
From cops and social workers to lawyers and judges, Long Island mom Justyna Zubko-Valva claims no one took her warnings about her NYPD cop husband, Michael Valva, seriously.
Alleging sex abuse, starvation, brainwashing, beatings and possible child porn, the mom had insisted their three sons were suffering at Valvas hands.
But instead of getting help, Zubko-Valva became lost in a legal labyrinth where she was the one on trial, painted as a scorned woman with a vendetta, court papers show.
One Suffolk County Family Court prosecutor slammed her as mentally ill, court papers show. Nassau County cops allegedly dismissed her as a mom going for custody. The NYPD apparently ignored her allegation that her ex was having sex in patrol cars on duty.
A Nassau judge gave custody of the three boys to Valva, who police now say killed one of them the couples 8-year-old autistic son, Thomas by leaving him overnight in a freezing garage at his Center Moriches home on Jan. 17.
Valva and his fiancée, Angela Pollina, were charged in Thomas death. Only then was Zubko-Valva given custody of her surviving sons, Anthony, 10, and Andrew, 6.
I dont know if its because hes a cop. I dont know if its because he had powerful friends in powerful places. It made zero sense to me, autism expert Kimberly Berens, who worked with Anthony and Thomas, said of the custody battle.
Zubko-Valvas neighbor Kathleen Izzo said: The bottom line is she was not a lunatic. She was exactly right.
By 2016, the couple had split, and Valva, 40, a transit officer, was forging a Brady Bunch-esque household with Pollina, 42, a mother of three girls.

This did not happen in NYC, nor were NYC courts involved.
Long Island is a weird place.
Nausea County is a weird place. Suffolk is merely strange.
As I have long maintained, the cops, lawyers, judges, et al are all on one side and we the citizens are on the other.
When it comes down to a cop's word vs. that of a citizen, the government always sides with their own.
good tag!
Once you pass the Nassau county line and pass Huntington, Northport area it’s a nothing til the Hamptons.
Any police department (or university faculty, or military unit, etc.) is only as good as the worst psycho they tolerate. ~ H/T RedStateRocker
sex abuse, starvation, brainwashing, beatings and possible child porn and the department closed ranks.
Fact: Long Island id not NYC. But to the rest of us in the country, you might me splitting hairs.
hope he and the vile hag girlfriend enjoy their time in prison
Weirdo cops who are into domination are the problem.
It depends on your values and your taste.
Nissequague, Head of the Harbor on out to the North Fork are beautiful! The dogwood trees blooming in the spring are so thick it looks like low flying clouds. Then there is Shelter Island. Magnificent.
Nassau and Suffolk counties,not NYC.
New York is a hellhole. Let them reap what they have sown
So the "normie" cops who actively cover up and enable them are A-OK in your book?
How is this different than knowing a terrorist is planning on killing an 8 year old, and doing everything possible to prevent anyone from stopping it?
Discuss. Show your work.
Luckily for us the are now militarized.
You don’t know what you are talking about. Not being part of NYC is a very big deal. Parts of Long Island are 100 miles from NYC. Different schools, taxes, different cops, different courts, no DeBlasio. Lots of Republicans on Long Island.
You are right. In my haste I left out North Fork. Spent summers on Shelter Island and Aquabogue.
By your standard living south side of Chicago same living in Naperville, Winnetka or Lake Forrest. And Detroit is same as Bloomfield Hills. That’s a joke.
