I’m curious, what does it cost to charge the battery at a charging station and what are the taxes on the charge? Thanks.

The Briggs was actually a pretty cool little car. kind of looked like an AMC pacer with 6 wheels. :)

“I think Honda is betting on the hybrid right now instead of electric cars.”

I hope they do better than last time. My sister bought an Insight and it was a POS. Rubber trim around the doors fell off within a year. She hated it and she likes little fun cars. Has a KIA Soul now and much much happier.

The fuel efficiency of an EV may be measured in kilowatt-hours (kWh) per 100 miles. To calculate the cost per mile of an EV, the cost of electricity (in dollars per kWh) and the efficiency of the vehicle (how much electricity is used to travel 100 miles) must be known. If electricity costs $0.11 per kWh and the vehicle consumes 34 kWh to travel 100 miles, the cost per mile is about $0.04.

NB:
Here in DuPage,15 CENTS PER kWh the residential rate with all taxes and delivery charges (BILL TOTAL/kWh)

Some locations offer off-hours charging rates.

Nice if you can swing it.

That said, My Scottish ancestors would not allow such thinking.
Even if we won the lotto. And you need to purchase a ticket for that, so not going to happen.

It’s sarcasm.
I’m making fun of the Prius.
It needs to be mocked out of existence.

It needs to be mocked out of existence.

And for what reason?

My wife selected a Prius V a few years back and I totally enjoy it. Not the comfort level of our suburbans, but less than half the purchase price. and a small fraction of operating costs.

The TCO is amazing.
Even the cost of insurance dropped considerably, moving from her Accord.

#32 FTA: all while driving something that didn’t automatically shift highway lanes whenever it was windy.

I have been in rental cars that practically did this to me whenever a heavier vehicle drove by.

We have the Prius V wagon, it has a longer wheelbase.

Once in a while, it is buffeted by big wind but so were our Suburbans?

Pat yourself on the back.
But it’s a piece of crap. And you’re
not saving the world driving one.
Can it seriously make it over 40 mph
or do you need a stiff breeze for that?

Simply not feeling the love?

I’m not attempting to save the world, just a few dollars for other more important things.

Yes, it obviously exceeds 40 MPH, but for most Chicagoland commuter traffic, 40 MPH would be a very high average speed.

So tell us about your great and glorious ride and why it makes you so very unhappy?

We Prius drivers on FR are not interested in saving the world, but saving ourselves serious bucks on fuel. My Prius V is actually roomy, comfortable, amazingly affordable and unbelievably reliable. It is a tough combination to beat. And it hauls a huge amount of cargo as well.
