Continuation of the thread.
New numbers out... There are currently 75,129 confirmed cases worldwide, including 2,007 fatalities. https://bnonews.com/index.php/2020/02/the-latest-coronavirus-cases/
China: TOTAL 74,130 2,002 12,017 serious 13,818 recovered 6,242 suspected
Everywhere else: 999 cases, 5 deaths, 39 serious/critical
I think that biohazardsuit is the latest in wedding fashions, family reunions, 7-11 runs.
Lovely; thank you.
“Is that normal?”
Only for folks repeating an article.
My nephew, his Chinese national wife and their baby are presently on home quarantine at their home in Houston.
She went home to visit family, a couple hours away from Hon Kong. She got out of there before travel from China was closed.
So far, so good.
That's a concern. Some patients are living in ICU for extended periods. The lung damage we are hearing about from the patients who develop severe pneumonia or ARDS might be survivable with great care, but at what cost? There might be a lot of survivors with long term cardio-pulmonary damage.
if you put in some military trucks skidding off a road spilling sealed containers, then have locals rushing in to steal those containers it would be very close.
Japan prepares for widespread coronavirus outbreak

NHK World Correspondent
As cases of the coronavirus emerge around the country, Japanese health officials are finding it increasingly difficult to identify the routes of infection. The government has announced it is stepping up screening efforts and will have the capacity to test 3,800 people a day starting on Tuesday.

I live in WA...where did this number come from?
Washington State:
Hundreds of people in Washington State are under public health supervision for coronavirus, according to the Washington State Department of Health.
According to the department, 712 people are under supervision for the illness. These people are at risk of having been exposed to the virus and their health is being monitored by public health officials.
All the data coming out of China is suspect. They are not allowing the CDC to enter the country. They are resisting an independent evaluation.
Also food shortages are being reported not just in Wusan but in other urban centers including Hong Kong. Suggests that they are having difficulty processing, packaging and getting food to market. If Apple cannot get components, imagine what is happening to the rest of the Chinese economy. Russia has denied entry to Chinese citizens. A good indicator will be the number if international flights in and out of China. Until they reach or approach year ago numbers, its a good indication that the situation remains very bad.
Still do not have confirmed data on the susceptibility of Caucasians and Africans to this virus. Many Caucasians and Africans live and work in Wusan. Are they becoming infected and dying at the same rate of the endemic Chinese? The answer will help determine if the world is dealing with a pandemic or an epidemic
IMHO its a pandemic most affecting Asiatics. Between Dec 15 to Jan 15 there was a huge number of people travelling from China, many from the epicenter, to the US. Inevitably many were infected, some became ill with a flu like illness and due to the lack of diagnostic kits were not properly diagnosed. However there has been no widespread reported transmission to the endemic American population even where Asiatics are concentrated such as Flushing and Manhattan, New York, LA , San Francisco and college complexes.
And the band plays on.Bring Out Your Dead...and on!
Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
If a quarantine saves just one child's life, it's worth it.
For you? Yeah. It’s normal...
Prayers for them!
There is another possibility to consider. What if the severe effects we are seeing is because of reinfection?
Thirty Brighton doctors in coronavirus isolation, says clinician
THIRTY doctors are in isolation after coming into contact with a GP who tested positive for coronavirus, according to a frontline clinician working to stem the outbreak in the city.
It is believed Public Health England told them to self-isolate following a healthcare meeting attended by the infected GP and dozens of other doctors.
The Argus became aware of the situation after patients at Charter Medical Centre in Hove were told only four of the practices 12 doctors were working on Monday morning because the rest of the staff were off sick.
I live in WA also - it was an article in Epoch Times that I linked above.
