We lived in Barstow for a year...some years ago. It had military, Pacific Gas & Electric and trains. That's it.

And as I recall from a visit to Barstow a number of years ago, the World's largest McDonald's restaurant.

I remember saying something like “I feel a bit lightheaded; maybe you should drive....” And suddenly there was a terrible roar all around us and the sky was full of what looked like huge bats, all swooping and screeching and diving around the car, which was going about a hundred miles an hour with the top down to Las Vegas.”

That’s because Barstow is the stop off point of people driving to Vegas. And yes, that McDonald’s is always packed!

There USED to be a real restaurant, a LONG time ago...and it was good.
