You can find this little fun word game, to combat early dementia and senility in us baby boomers, in several daily publications.
The way it works is a letter stands for another letter. For example: AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW (does not apply to today's cryptogram).
Beware, the game is very addictive. If this is your first time, don't be intimidated.
PLEASE DO NOT post the answer in general comments, but DO post your time and any tips you might give the group on how you solve these puzzles as puzzle solvers love to hear how you made out.
You can certainly send your solution to my private reply, or if you need a hint for todays Cryptogram.
If you need a little help you can copy the cryptogram and paste it to Hals Helper below:
You can then work on the puzzle without using pen and paper.
Solution to our last puzzle:
LIFE IS A TRAVELLING TO KNOWLEDGE, THEN A LEAP TAKEN. D.H. LAWRENCE
Took me three tries to get yrr , and then off to the races.
Did the quote bring a little smile to your face and a tear in your eye? It did for me. Made me think of my Mom taking me to the library..and Im reading to her....rather than the other way around.
For me, the key was the two-letter part of the name; which then gave the fourth word; then process of elimination gave “yrr”...
Nice, with many small words to play around.
Oh yes. I have read it to children and grandchildren.
Spoiler Allert:
LE SOLEIL NE BRILLAIT PAS. IL ÉTAIT TROP MOUILLÉ POUR JOUER. DONC NOUS NOUS ASSEYONS DANS LA MAISON. TOUT CE JOUR FROID, FROID ET HUMIDE.
Author's name.
God.....not too subtle..hey? lol
Was a little tricky...not as easy as youd think....
Ive often thought that among the things that make America so different and the envy of the world are people like Disney and todays author.
There is something inherently good in us, to have produced such.
Youll never see the same coming out of Islamic or Chinese countries.
Trump knows this. The democrats have forgotten.
I am not a citizen of the world I am an American.
Yes, not too subtle. Maybe even Ted Geisel would have been too much of a giveaway.
The author’s name itself is a giveaway.
C’est merveilleux!
Every country produces people like this, in abundance. In America their talents blossom, in many other countries, they wither. America was once fertile ground for almost every kind of talent, artistic, creative, scientific, industrial.
But not if Bernie has his way.
QUEL DOMMAGE!
Don’t tell me; they had the coronavirus too!? Two minutes, first word led to the breakthrough.
GUessed the first word, then YRR and it was just a matter of filling in. I “heard” the quote in Harrison Ford’s voice, since he read this story to his daughter in the move Patriot Games
