Yeah, because there isn’t nearly enough data to accurately obtain the amount of infections for COVID-19. Many do not even manifest symptoms. With the flu, you do.

Saying this offends people. Why?

TDS

The President is correct about COVID-19 vs the common flu, but TDS will not allow the media or his critics to concede the point and calm the panic. On top of this, the media has an insatiable appetite for panic stories in general (follow the money) and it serves their political purposes.

We will see over the next two weeks if things calm down or if panic rules the day and does long-term damage to the economy, but history will show that Trump (and many others) was correct in his assessment and desire to calm the nerves of a jittery public.

While I ultimately trust his sociopolitical instincts, I do think that particular tweet may have been ill-advised. If he’s wrong, it will return to bite him hard.

As opposed to any of his other tweets, or for that matter, any statement a politician ever makes.

Remember Biden downplaying the threat from China?

Trump always comes across as optimistic. That is a good trait to have, until it comes across as being dismissive of either truly bad situations, or situations that are perceived bad.

How many people got the virus, had a cold for a few days and got better?

It doesn’t kill everyone and it has similar symptoms as the flu.

We could be looking at 100K infection rate but only have a few hundred of the most severe cases and a dozen deaths.

The Cornyvirus is more shock and awe than anything

the Obama Flu H1N1 killed 525,000 world wide and 11,000 here in the United States, and nobody blamed Obama for it.

ABC news being as dishonest as ever.

The drop in the price of oil is what caused the trouble today.

If he’s wrong, it will return to bite him hard.

People have been saying that about Trump tweets since 2015. We have had the "surely this is the end of Trump" routine about 8,000 times since.

Perhaps ABC would rather Pres. Trump compare it to malaria. That almost eradicated disease that returned bringing massive fatalities thanks to the lies of an environmentalist icon.

Per the link in the post below yours, 34 million people have gotten the flu. Not a fair comparison.

The same precautions that people will take to prevent COVID-19 will also reduce exposure to other flu viruses.

As a smart FReeper pointed out on one of these threads yesterday, the total U.S. COVID-19 deaths will be fewer than the lives saved by people not catching “common flu”.

So what? Does it matter he is right or wrong, he is ALWAYS wrong with the media. The media has turned Trump into teflon, nothing sticks to him, it doesn’t matter.

When you blast the guy and to impeach him for having two scoops of ice cream, the media lost all credibility and therefore it doesn’t matter anymore.

The only problem some Americans still watch that crap and believe it.

Worst Case Scenarios:

Thanks for the links. Watch out septuagenarians and octogenarians. They’ve finally found something that can ice you effectively. Useless eaters are unsustainable to the masters of the universe. Watch those nursing home numbers.

Incidence/dosage/effectiveness/symptoms/death rates. Sorry, you’re a captive audience. Some of your “loved” ones may roll with it. Oh yeah, I trust the government and their make work weaponized bureaucracies. Fat man, little boy, tiny germ with a side of Hegelian dialectics tossed in.

Precedence of anything like this? No way. Here, take your GOV mints. Our doctors/eugenicists say they’re OK.

The “internet” claims that something like a 1,000 people DID NOT die before obama declared it an emergency?

An elderly neighbor of ours is at a nursing home/ rehab place in Kirkland, Washington. My wife helps him out, and was down there yesterday to take his dirty clothes home and wash them and return them.

Today they closed the place down to visitors.

Thursday they will be releasing him to go home.

I’m guessing that it will be difficult to make them run a Covid-19 test on him before they release him to the public if he isn’t showing any symptoms.

Probably trying to avoid a panic, although not possible at this point.

All I know is the 13,000 died, 11,000 were kids of the Obama Flu in 2009

I remember is being an emergency, but why should it matter? 13,000 still died. 11,000 innocent kids as well, I remember the kids were just normal kids, no health issues, etc
