WOW: Florida woman comes face-to-face with ginormous alligator in the Everglades

You can hear her say in the video, "I'm going to back up a little bit,' and we don't blame her!

A swamp walk guide and resident photographer of Clyde Butcher's Big Cypress Gallery stood inches away from a 40-year-old alligator in the Everglades.

Conny Randolph took the incredible video this weekend in the Ochopee wetlands of Big Cypress National Preserve, right off U.S. 41.

You can hear her say in the video, "I'm going to back up a little bit,' and we don't blame her! Moments later, you can hear the alligator hiss.

According to the gallery, the alligator she was inches away from is named Loosescrew or Snaggletooth, depending on who you talk to. He has lived on the property for more than 20 years. They regularly watch him with his female companions and baby alligators.

Wildlife experts estimate he is at least 11-feet long and over 40 years old.

The gallery is in the heart of the Everglades and features work from Clyde Butcher, Niki Butcher, and a variety of guest artists.

11 feet isn’t even ginormous in the northern reaches of alligator range here in NC. An 11-footer is merely large.

In 2010, a 11’ 6”, 550 lb gator was removed from a ranch stock tank West of Odessa (Texas y’all) by Texas & Parks Wildlife Game Wardens.

Amazing was that the gator could survive the far W. Rolling Plains Winters when stock tanks freeze over.

Must have been a deep hole it dug into.
