Runs on supplies
vanity | 03-12-20 | self

Is anyone seeing runs on supplies like toilet paper, bleach, etc.?

I was at the grocery store yesterday the TP aisle was pretty much cleared out. Most household cleaning supplies were available although bleach was limited.

Believe it or not hand soap/sanitizer was available in limited quantities.

Rest of groceries looked to be good.

Yes. TP is going fast here. We’re also getting runs on sanitizer.

My neighbor reported empty shelves for toilet paper and hand sanitizer.

I started laying in supplies a few weeks ago and have a good month of food, medicines, etc. Never crossed my mind everyone would hoard TP. Fortunately, I have plenty as our local stores are all out.

Can still get plenty of food and limited sanitizer. Liquid bleach yes. Clorox wipes no.

Was at my local Kroger yesterday - they just received 2 pallets of TP and were restocking the shelves. Everything else was in stock.

Same here. I have managed to get enough though. So far no virus in my area so I’ve been stocking up slowly without going nuts like so many are.

At Costco yesterday and I saw folks buying huge bags of flour. They limited everyone to 2.

So fifty pounds of flour. I saw several people with bags in their carts.

No one touched any yeast.

Their bread is going to suck.

My fruit trees are blooming and my hothouse vegetables are looking good and my neighbor has chickens. If things get bad we’ll survive but it’s the panic that is the biggest threat. I’m concerned that the powers that be could use this situation for police state tactics and martial law.

Yep...local Costco limiting purchases to 2 of each item.

Some tried to get around that by having dad come through, then mom, then the kid, etc.

Mgr put a stop to that and amended to apply to families. One dude didn't like that and got a bit chippy. He calmed down when the police showed up.

I don't think you're supposed to drink it.

We were okay in my neck of the Upstate NY woods until Cuomo shot off his mouth a few days ago. Then locusts descended.

Good thing toilet paper hasn’t changed much since the Civil War.

Yep, was in my local Shop Rite yesterday and not a roll of TP was available and what few liquid soaps were on the shelves were not the “anti-bacterial” kind. I understand the soaps but cannot for the like of me understand the TP shortage.

I haven’t heard that CV causes any more frequent bowel movements than not. It’s a respiratory illness not the stomach flu. What am I missing with this run on TP?

I’ve read it would be good to stock up on alcohol and cigs....even if you don’t indulge. Good for trading material.

If you have to shelter in place for two weeks and have females...

Nuff said. :-)

South Central PA here. I had to buy TP over the weekend, was running out. There was plenty and a variety. There was a run on eggs tho, they were on sale for $1 per dozen. Store could barely keep them on the shelf. I bought 2 dozen. Didn’t notice hand sanitizer, don’t use the stuff. Soap works fine. I’ll go out and do my weekly shopping this weekend. Things seem pretty normal around here, so I don’t expect any problems, unless it snows. Then all hell will break loose and you won’t be able to make french toast.
