CNN had video (did not catch location) of miserable looking folks in blocks long lines with empty shopping carts waiting to get into some store.

They looked like big city lower income folks to me—overweight, mostly...

Your state is the _classic_ case of where a quarantine at the state line is needed ASAP.

Too late. We have airports in Idaho. Boise,Twin Falls, Pocatello, Idaho Falls, Rigby. A state line quarantine is only going to stop a small bit of road traffic.

“Lookner Brazil cases double in one day—to total of 151.”

Wonder if any cases there are community spread. Isn’t it still summer there with warm temperatures?

See my earlier discussions of quarantines—obviously the airports need to be closed as part of a quarantine.

“It’s the length of time of this thing that worries me more than anything...It would be better if it was just really really bad for one month and then go away.”

I know, we’re talking over a year if 1919 holds, and that is about all we have to go on. Even 10k for the Dow if this drags out for a year or more is optimistic.

Looks like we’ll be referring to 2018 as the good old days.

If your investment horizon is longer it’s interesting to note the Roaring 20s came after the smoke cleared from the 1918 Pandemic, as folks consumed with a vengeance after being held back for so long.

The same will eventually happen.

And 2019! We will come back, as providing a war doesn’t start up due to this.

”But we’re not 100% rational. Part of our brain just can’t help slightly doubting the wisdom of extreme pandemic precautions”

I’d like to give some credit to Brain, here. Haven’t we all experienced dire predictions that haven’t come to pass? There is such a thing as healthy skepticism.

And my “gut” is sometimes wrong, too.

We have to really evaluate things.

True, but I’m still not sure it will be that easy, as back then, people didn’t jet around the world, like they used to do until a few weeks ago (me included). Going back to that lifestyle...will be slow and this damn virus will have to really be tamed!

They sure did go back to traveling with a vengeance after 2009.

So much that a few weeks ago, the Venice folks were complaining about Over Tourism.

Now look at Venice

“Now look at Venice”

Yep, they either prohibited cruise ships or were about to. But now, oh so calm and peaceful there. I might put this video on my living room TV screen, just to calm me down as I blab-off about the stock market...
