The hosts of the Discovery Channels Diesel Brothers have been fined $851,451 for selling modified pickups that violate Utah law and the federally recognized Clean Air Act.
Fridays court documents stipulate that David Heavy D Sparks, Joshua Stuart, Keaton Hoskins, and Diesel Dave Kiley pay $761,451 to the U.S. government with the remaining $90,000 going to Davis County in Utah. The group has already been found guilty of removing particulate filters and exhaust recirculation systems on the cars used for the television program.

This whole thing is so stupid to stipulate specific devices. Set a standard that you want a vehicle to meet and let the manufacturer figure out how to get there. You will see more innovation that way.
It’s just more gov oppression.those veicals where on a freakin’ tv show not the road! (Okay they pulled a few hilarious pranks. Do u smoke?) LOL!!
Wonder if they will confiscate every vehicle sold too.
Almost a million bucks. Time for bankruptcy.
The Diesel Brothers first sin is daring to remove government mandated equipment from a government approved product.
Selling the engine with out these mandated parts is a minor act of revolution and this is the greatest sin.
Thou shalt not resist thine government overlords.
To me this was like being on the moonshiner tv show and then being “surprised” when a revenue agent buys your product and then arrests you.
I’ve watched pretty much all the “car guy” shows on TV and I can probably name an episode where they break a federal law on camera for every one one of them.
From catless exhausts and then taking the car out on the road for a “test drive” to flying into a city with $200K in $100 bills in their pocket to buy a car.
The particulate filter is a huge PITA. Take it out and keep your mouth shut.
I totally agree.
Bragging about it on a tv show and then selling the rig to a buyer you don’t know obviously resulted in a bad outcome.
I see your point.
They knew that they were violating government rules.
But in my mind the engines were sold in compliance with government regulations by the dealer.
After the initial sale, the compliance with government regulations is the responsibility of the owner.
Unless the government catches the violation in the position of the modifier the responsibility is with the present owner.
If untaxed moonshine is in your possession do they arrest you or do they let you go and charge the moonshiner?
This judge is trying to make a public example of these cable TV stars. It is unjust and excessive.
Why is traveling with cash illegal unless you are crossing international borders?
No bankruptcy!
They need to have a whole season on them going back and buying all those cars/trucks back and turning them into solar-powered, approved by nanny-state vehicles.
They can be monitored by a non-deliberately funny government agent who looks and acts like Barney from the Andy Griffith show.
Hijinks ensue!
Big bucks television!!!
Government supposedly has the right to seize and banks HAVE to report to feds cash withdraws over $10K.
If you withdraw $6K cash and go to the other bank branch 2 blocks away and withdraw another $6K, is "structuring" and that is illegal too.
Ask Denny Hasturd, he'll tell you. He probably voted for it.
Diesel Brothers Fined $850,000 for Rolling Coal
= = =
I’d like to find $850,000
Bring my son and I a case of beer and give us a couple of hours and your diesel truck will put more smoke, exhaust and tire, than you ever thought possible
“The Diesel Brothers first sin is daring to remove government mandated equipment from a government approved product.”
That’s why my mattress still have the tag on them.
Blasphemy! Where would the crony kickbacks, graft and pay offs come from?
Thats why my mattress still have the tag on them.
They NOW say except by rhe final consumer. When I was a kid, I cut the one off of the mattress on my first real bed because it was bothering me. My mom thought that I was a budding anarchist. She was right...
So, who’s really been fined here, the Diesel Brothers or the Discovery Channel?
The air in northern Utah in the winter sucks. Ever see pictures of Los Angeles air in the 1960s?
Utah has a system in place to report people “rolling coal”. But from what i’ve seen the diesel truck “engineers” aren’t too worried about getting busted.
