Walmart hiring 150,000 to meet demand from coronavirus, giving bonuses to current employees

Walmart has a steady workforce of full-time and part-time workers helping meet the every day needs of its customers. As part of responding to the current environment, Walmart is also hiring 150,000 new associates through the end of May to work in stores, clubs, distribution centers and fulfillment centers. These roles will be temporary at first, but many will convert to permanent roles over time.

Walmart is also implementing a new process to dramatically expedite hiring for key roles, such as cashiers and stockers. What is usually a two-week application cycle will be reduced to a 24-hour process. Anyone interested in applying should do so at careers.walmart.com. This initiative is aimed at helping put Americans to work, while helping Walmart better serve customers during this time of increased demand.

"We know millions of Americans who are usually employed at this time are temporarily out of work, and at the same time, we're currently seeing strong demand in our stores," McMillon said. "We're looking for people who see Walmart as a chance to earn some extra money and perform a vital service to their community."

My local Acme Market, owned by Albertsons, sent out an email for the first time ever saying they were hiring.

They are going to need waves of employees. As each preceding wave gets sick, you’ve got to bring in the next one. I wonder how much productivity they are expecting to get out of each employee on average. A month, maybe?

We’re eating the same amount as before but demand has shifted toward individual buyers at grocery stores instead of commercial accounts like restaurants and bars.

Still, a laid-off waitress or cook can easier get a fill-in job in a Walmart DC than they can learn to code overnight.

Except communist governors are limiting the number of employees any single location can have.

Good way to get you exposed to medical troubles, aka the virus.

Don’t touch these jobs without health coverage from the employers. avoid part-time

A lot of Walmart employees must have quit. Their stores are disaster zones now in my area of Florida.

My local suburban Wal Mart even before Coronavirus had plenty of bare shelves. Now is a disaster zone. I see lots of employees walking around, not sure what they are doing.

Walmart 150,000. Anazon 100,000. Other internet businesses also.

Most fortunes are made by buying low and selling high. Right now fortunes are being made the good old fashioned way.
