With China covering up Covid-19 and not getting the word out to the world, they should pay a long-term price for destroying economies and lives.
President Trump should get together with other nations hit hard by this virus (European countries, Japan etc) and have all agree to slap a 50% tax on everything exported from China. That tariff will pay for the bonds issued to jump start the economies.
China needs to pay for what they have done this time and cannot be given a pass. This was 100% preventable but China CHOSE not to do so.

I think no matter what is done at this point, the likelihood of a shooting war within the next decade went up by quite a bit.
War isn’t an instant response to a situation usually, like in the movies.
It is desperation and poverty and hard times and deaths built over years until it all explodes.
Or everything will be back to normal in six months.
Who knows?
I like the idea though. But everyone will point to countries being warned way back about it and ignoring it and in retaliation China could devastate a tremendous number of American companies.

Agreed. I am in favor of slapping a tariff on Chinese goods - and seizing their Treasury bonds - to help pay for the mess they have created.
But then China would have no reason not to try to seize Taiwan. The restraints would be gone.
I’m getting an uncomfortable feeling about the continuing Chicom propaganda. They realize other than getting a pass from the useful idiot left, they will have a price to pay for their actions. Right now the Chinese are in the strongest position vis a vis the rest of the world that they will ever be. Now is the most opportune time for the Chinese to make a move regionally or globally. Assuming Trump is re-elected, the Chicoms surely know their time of reckoning (Trump’s reaction) is coming. Dangerous time.
And things would get ugly fast.

Great idea. Why should we pay trillions to resurrect our economy, which they will profit from? They must be punished for releasing these plagues on other nations.

China makes the stuff that Apple and Amazon sells and the drugs and drug chemicals that keep millions of Americans alive.

They tried to create chaos to beat Trump!
America and the world needs to reduce its dependency on China. Americans need to reject the tyranny as best they can, with their vote, with their dollar, with their investments... It has never been more clear as to what the CCP is. Tariffs, fine. But behavior and ideology is critical.
I know that I have been passively complicit. Not any more!
