French law enforcers have slapped fines on tens of thousands of uncooperative citizens, less than a week after the government introduced restrictions on non-essential travel and business in an effort to combat Covid-19. The Ministry of Interior disclosed on Saturday that police across the country had carried out 867,695 inspections to ensure that people using transport or participating in other restricted activities had good reason to do so. As a result, cops reported some 38,994 instances of non-compliance resulting in fines between Tuesday and Friday. French authorities have also warned that they will become stricter with enforcement going forward.

"Some of the fines were reportedly issued to homeless people in Paris, Lyon and Bayonne, according to an advocacy group for the disadvantaged. However, the group did not disclose how many people living on the streets have been penalized for violating the lockdown."
I'm sure the homeless are worried.
Only the law abiding pay their fines.
Thats why true cops hand out speeding tickets etc while guarding the distribution of needles and prostitutes and drug deals here.
In this case, vive la France.
When they, say, clean up the homeless camps and outlaw homo sex and prostitution I might start to believe they actually care about public health.
Damn, sounds better than those camera red light scams .... making francs, euros or pesos (or whatever) hand over fist.
Ive worked every day since he stayed home order
returning from work right now actually
If they lock down my city, I am still going out
Good for you. Working is patriotic right now imo.
Unless you are ill or have extenuating reasons.
I don’t wish ill on the French ... but this will provide a basis for evaluating the course of the virus without “social distancing.”
