Today, President Donald J. Trump declared that a major disaster exists in the State of California and ordered Federal assistance to supplement State, tribal, and local recovery efforts in the areas affected by the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic beginning on January 20, 2020, and continuing.

The President’s action makes Federal funding available for Crisis Counseling for affected individuals in all areas in the State of California.

Federal funding is also available to State, tribal, and eligible local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations for emergency protective measures, including direct Federal assistance, for all areas in the State of California impacted by COVID-19.

Pete Gaynor, Administrator, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Department of Homeland Security, named Robert J. Fenton as the Federal Coordinating Officer for Federal recovery operations in the affected areas.

Additional designations may be made at a later date if requested by the State and warranted by the results of further assessments.

Wait a minute. Didn’t they claim California is the 6th largest economy in the world? Why should they ask for federal funding?

I’m waiting for FEMA to allow Disaster Assistance to individuals. That would pay unemployment benefits to small business owners hurt by the shutdowns.

Shouldn’t every President, as soon as he takes the oath of office, just declare, “California is a disaster”?

DUH, maybe like every other fricken state in the union it's businesses and economy have been shut down by this bullshit emergency.

I am always amazed by what are normally intelligent rational people(maybe) that just get all hateful when the word California comes up that they are happy to see bad things happen to fellow Americans. And then they have the nerve to bitch about democrats when they do the same damn thing!

Funny how those deep blue libs don’t seem to mind working with conservatives or deplorables when it comes to spending money.

I live here. California pours all our tax dollars down rat holes. Btw, the federal govt didn’t shut down the economy. Big city (Democrat) mayors and governors did.

California's Governor Hair Gel and the legislature will divert it to something else, like themselves and their donors, and the disaster will remain.

How many F-ing times do we have to see this charade?

Crisis Counseling? Da fug?!

I am fortunate to have an engineering job that is considered necessary and am not impacted by the shut-down so I’m still working at the moment, but there are millions of other California residents that have been furloughed as their companies have been shut-down. These people don’t need counseling; they need a paycheck so they can pay their bill’s and buy groceries.

F’ crises counseling. Spend our tax dollars where it will provide relief to struggling families and have tangible results.
