Hydroxychloroquine-Azithromycin Treatment for COVID-19 Shown to be Effective in an 80-Patient Study
IHU-Méditerranée Infection, Marseille, France ^ | March 27, 2020 | Didier Raoult, et. al.

Posted on 03/28/2020 9:21:58 AM PDT by Raymond Pamintuan

Abstract We need an effective treatment to cure COVID-19 patients and to decrease the virus carriage duration. In 80 in-patients receiving a combination of hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin we noted a clinical improvement in all but one 86 year-old patient who died, and one 74 year old patient still in intensive care unit. A rapid fall of nasopharyngeal viral load tested by qPCR was noted, with 83% negative at Day7, and 93% at Day8. Virus cultures from patient respiratory samples were negative in 97.5% patients at Day5. This allowed patients to rapidly de discharge from highly contagious wards with a mean length of stay of five days. We believe other teams should urgently evaluate this cost-effective therapeutic strategy, to both avoid the spread of the disease and treat patients as soon as possible before severe respiratory irreversible complications take hold.

Clinical and microbiological effect of a combination of hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin in 80 COVID-19 patients with at least a six-day follow up: an observational study Running title: Hydroxychloroquine-Azithromycin and COVID-19

Some Harvard PHD .....of note admittedly....said it didn’t do squat....

https://www.forbes.com/sites/williamhaseltine/2020/03/25/study-shows-hydroxy-chloroquine-is-ineffective-against-covid-19-—so-what-now/#b6aea5409bef

The test seems sorta weird ....as in what was severity

30 folks

Give 30 folks with mild symptoms

Half placebo

Half hydroxchloroquine

In five days both tests groups are fine ...no difference

Well

Not sure politics of the guy who wrote this....that skews science today sadly ...every time

How could you have Skunk Works today...

This test was a valiant effort, but didn’t appear to change from the norm.

https://www.mediterranee-infection.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/COVID-IHU-2-1.pdf

Of the 80 that were in a sterile location that was available to them, 28.8% were over 60. There were 51 chronic conditions in the mix, and not identified as one per so it has to be evaluated as possible multiple and any of the ages.

Of the 80 tested 12 required oxygen therapy, 3 were transferred to ICU, 1 death, and currently there are 14 being hospitalized still (ICU and an infectious disease ward).

From what I can determine from this study, it is consistent with the normal numbers in today’s current stats of the illness in the US. And this test was run in a sterile situation with all the docs and medication available. So how effective is the treatment used. I don’t see it as that sound an answer to the problem, if at all. They are going to have to tweak it at worst. But it obviously isn’t ready yet.

OK - I imagine that since most of the data is anecdotal, there is little medical profession interest in going fully into it with the other treatments they are exploring for a "more direct approach".

If there seems to be reason to believe it may have some efficacy, it will likely start the process of using control groups among those who might not normally actually be put under treatment...need a safer population (or such a disaster that it is acknowledged that so many will die that control groups become a "Hail Mary" potential stopgap) to gather enough discerning data..

But using places you mentioned as a way to do it does seem logical - if they ain't gonna get it there anyway, might as well use those stats.

Since there is a group of people already using this drug (for Lupus and other conditions) I would love to know how many have contracted the virus. It would be quite useful, especially for those in the hardest hit areas. Like people in the rest home in Washington state or medical personnel exposed to infected patients.

But Fish Tank Cleaner is evidently failing as a treatment.

Hydroxychloroquine is said to enable zinc to penetrate inside of cells. Zinc interferes with replication of the Covid virus. Dietary zinc won’t do the same, won’t penetrate cell walls.

Why isn’t this being mass-produced via the Defense Production Act like they are now doing with respirators? WTH are they waiting for?

FYI:

My wife has a colleague in NYC who had CV symptoms, shortness of breath, fever, cough. He’s mid-thirties, in good health otherwise, with no severe underlying conditions. His doctor told him to self-quarantine and to let him know if his symptoms became worse. If so, he would then have him tested. It never came to that. He also prescribed hydroxychloroquine and a Z-Pack. The young man told my wife today that after two days of taking the medication he was feeling much better and that after five days his symptoms are almost gone! Real story. Real first-hand account. Real results! Good news!

They want to keep people dying long enough to push their end game - the ‘end game’ is voting from home via internet - massive way to cheat bingo TRUMP is defeated - the only way they can do it!

Wait and see!

Convinced this CV was intentional for this one world govnt purpose, to get rid of TRUMP. to payback for grief he has cause China and his determination to break USA dependencies on China!

This was a deep dark opern by CCP w/ deep state, one world order players like soros, gates and CIA - only thing they had left as TRUMP was creaming them and dems had f’ked up their president candidate so badly!

Plus they wanted to change agenda on all the shit coming out on spygate and the need to put people in jail because of TWO TIERED JUSTICE SYSTEM!

There is already a 1100 person study in NY already underway. We should get the results in a few days. Since the mortality rate is 1-2%, smaller studies are not going to be reliable. If you think about it, even in a 1100 person study, we are looking to see if this makes a difference for the 11-22 people who would have otherwise passed away. Let us wait and see.

My daughter is a nurse in the infectious disease unit at Yale New Haven hospital (the leading hospital in Connecticut). They are trying this on patients as well.

No results yet, but some patients are not able to tolerate side effects.

Do you happen to know if they’re using chloroquine or hydroxychloquine? The hydroxy version is supposed to have fewer side effects.

This March 9 study from China shows that hydroxychloroquine (Plaquenil) inhibited COVID-19 (aka SARS-CoV-2) better than regular chloroquine:

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/32150618

Hydroxychloroquine also has fewer side effects.

The one last week was a preliminary study by the same Doctor, Didier Raoult. This current one has a larger number of patients. In other words, it’s telling us that Raoult is continuing to get similar results as before even when treatment is done on a larger scale.
