It looks like a large ensign post.I'm no sailor, but I do remember looking at my Dad's Blue Jackets manual from time to time long ago. I've even seen the picture on the Cutty Sark bottle a few times. Thanks fort the expert help. Oh, I even know what a bowline on a bight is too (Boy Scouts).
