Harlem resident Mark Evans had a great job as a Teamster driver on the CBS drama Bull when the coronavirus crisis abruptly closed the curtain on all film and TV production across New York.
The self-proclaimed doomsday prepper said he wasnt surprised to get his pink slip March 13. But now the magnitude of the shutdown is starting to hit home.

Overall, New York Citys film and television sector employed 76,552 people in 2017 a nearly 37% increase since 2008, according to a report released last October by city Comptroller Scott Stringer.
The industry paid an estimated $9.2 billion in wages that year, with the average annual salary being $120,521, the report said.
According to the Mayors Office of Media & Entertainment, the city issues more than 10,000 production permits a year.

In the meantime, Tolan, 54, will be paying the nearly $5,000 in monthly rent on their Manhattan office.

Maybe they will actually take this time to be productive and just end all the terrible, awful, work-job shows in production right now.
The WB alone could drop most of its lineup. Hallmark could cut all of its shows.
The country would be extremely grateful.
And climate change.

This ? is for those who still watch the decreasing ‘soap’ daytime dramas (unseen here since Luke and Laura were an item on General Hospital).
How are the production companies and TPTB handling these broadcasts? (if there are still such a thing as ‘soaps’) TIA
I guess that new Woody Allen movie, “These Pretzels are Making Me Thirstier,” will also be on hold.
Kramer and Darren will launch “NetFilx” by Kramerica complete with Gene picks. All they need is enough chicken wire.

And just how does one doomsday prep in Harlem, set up a secret bunker in a sewer tunnel? Jump on a plane to Florida? What? Im very curious what a NYC doomsday prepper does.
These workers are rabid Dems, they’ll have their hate to keep them warm.
I haven’t been a a movie in 5 years and from the streams of those I’ve seen, I haven’t missed much...except that 12 dollar bag of popcorn and the 10 dollar coke.
How much of this “booming” industry is just fron New York officials subsidizing the hell out of the films in a bidding war the taxpayer always loses. And will those same officials find some way to continue paying for Hollywood’s love even when movies aren’t even being made?
