Thanks. I know you have my best interests at heart...
Now you’ve made me think about the brisket from Zimmerhanzel’s in Smithville. Yummy. Haven’t had that in about 6 years.
Abbott is a good man. If he is taking this a little too far, I don’t oppose him. He’s doing what he thinks is best.
YES, please, er, I mean...of course....there are NUMEROUS road checks, with VERY LONG lines, on the western outskirts of Canutillo, TX.
Zombies, Illegals, etc., in addition.
Best to just detour North...and, keep on truckin’.
:-)
The reason for the blockade coming from Louisiana is because New Orleans has a very high COVID rate compared to most places outside of the East and West coasts.
Long time Texans also remember how many ne’er-do-well criminals settled in Houston after they were bussed in to rescue them from Hurricane Katrina. It was the humanitarian thing to do at the time but crime shot up and Louisianans, fairly or unfairly, caught much of the blame for it.
Texas....not for the weak.
You should have seen it before it got civilized!
Good
I love Abbott
We pulled over at a rest stop in West Texas....
....first thing we saw was a sign...
CAUTION.....SNaKES
No f***ing way do we want any moochers from democrat Louisiana in Texas for any reason-just NO!
Those Katrina rats didn’t just go to the Houston area-MrT5 worked as a veterans’ benefits counselor at the VA in Kerrville, 30 miles from here then-within days of the storm, there were guys in his office claiming to be veterans displaced and homeless because of the storm, demanding everything from free housing (in a smallish town with no such housing provisions), rides to the grocery store and money to buy them and even money to buy coffee and a meal at a restaurant. Most of them didn’t realize their info on past service and their last known addresses would be checked-and all but about 4-5 had never served in the military at all-never mind being put out of their homes by Katrina-they were all told to leave-they were just scammers looking for a handout. MrT5 said he and his coworkers were amazed at what hardcore cons will try...
Setting up checkpoints on I 10 and 20 would be good too.
The only other road bridge I know of across Toledo Bend from LA to TX is way south of Logansport on TX HWY 21.
The funniest thing I remember about the Katrina refugees was that the city of Shreveport moved a large group them into a vacant shopping mall west of Shreveport on I-20. Later that week, police had to be called out to the shopping mall to break up a dog-fighting ring. Several people were arrested.
Aren’t I just a nice and helpful guy? :)
the only things that are truly big in texas are the unjustifiably massive egos.
Arent I just a nice and helpful guy? :)
Indeed. (A Texan might add, bless your heart).
