Only four days ago came word that Tom Dempsey had recovered from COVID-19. The good news was short lived.
The former NFL kicker died late Saturday of complications from the coronavirus, the Times-Picayne reports. Dempsey was 73.
Dempsey had battled Alzheimers disease and dementia since 2012. He was one of several residents of a senior living facility in New Orleans to contract COVID-19, testing positive March 25.

This seems fairly typical for the ChiCom Flu. Somebody has serious health issues and ChiCom Flu puts them over the edge. I don’t see why the people who are quarantining everyone can’t see that. Isolate the old and people with other health issues and let everyone else go back to work.
Is this the same Tom Dempsey that kicked the longest (63 yard) field goal in history when he played with the Saints in a game against the hapless Detroit Lions in...? 1973?
His field goal record stood for 43 years. More on that;

I saw him do it. Was awesome. Here it is,

Here is the story of a person in Alaska recovering from this who would probably agree:
“Fairbanks woman ‘relieved and terrified’ after recovering from COVID-19”
A Fairbanks woman who spent two weeks battling a debilitating bout with the coronavirus is sharing her story to encourage people to take social distancing seriously. Now recovering, she remains relieved and terrified.
“Miriam Braun, 38, works as a seismic data analyst at the University of Alaska Fairbanks Geophysical Institute. She shared her harrowing story on her personal Facebook page on March 28 and in a later phone interview.
Braun has several underlying medical conditions, which made her a perfect host for the coronavirus. She suffers from lupus, a long-term autoimmune disease in which the body’s immune system becomes hyperactive and attacks normal, healthy tissue. She also suffers from a common variable immune deficiency and a connective tissue disorder. . .”
If she was suffering from Lupus, I wonder if she was taking HCQ.
i was 10 years old...watched the game on television...was a huge Lions fan...and literally cried when he made the kick...OH THE PAIN!!!...lol
She was also given an antibiotic, although it does not say which one. Perhaps the reporter on the newspaper here knows, or could find out.
This case may be statistically significant. Certainly of interest. It also does not say whether her husband caught it. The HCQ is also supposed to reduce viral load and shedding.

At the professional level, two men are tied for the longest-ever field goal, at 63 yards. Tom Demsey first accomplished this feat on November 8, 1970. Kicking with a club foot that had no toes, he nailed the 63-yard attempt with two seconds left on the clock as the New Orleans Saints defeated the Detroit Lions. Dempsey's record was matched on October 25, 1998, by Jason Elam of the Denver Broncos.
Yuh see, there's this thing called "googling" that can resolve all uncertainties... Took me 2 seconds - and I am not even a fan of this so-called "American football game."
Regards,
Beat me to it.
He had advanced Alzheimer’s disease. In New Orleans they count anyone who tests positive as dying from the disease. But tom was very sick before the virus.
Rest in peace.
For us oldies, #71 in that pic for the Detroit Lions was Alex Karras.
As a young girl in NOLA I admired Dempsey. He & I were both born with clubbed foot. That’s why his kicking foot was deformed; nothing was amputated.
In my case both feet were deformed & needed reconstructive surgery. Today I can walk; which is a very minor miracle.
I always admired Dempsey’s perseverance, heart & class. He gave me someone to look up to.
Today I am very sad.
RIP Sir.
And thank you for inspiring a scared young girl.
Thanks!
Fantastic! May he rest in peace.
