Sears and JC Penney are still in business? That’s the bit that’s news to me.

From my perspective Sears no longer existed before this. There is not a store within 100’s of miles and if you go online then everything is out of stock.

That is a shame about J. Crew. At one time they sold high quality classic clothes without obvious labels and logos but I have noticed a dip in quality (and price point!) over the last few years.

I thought Sears was completely dead finally? They kept pulling back like every year.

JCP definitely still alive but they keep reducing service in annoying ways, which makes me not like them as much. Just 10 years ago I liked them a lot, for a midway dept store.

May.

The panic spreading is not just over the virus.

Not the stores but the jobs! What enterprise can soak up these employees? One thing when they were disappearing in dribs&drabs, very different when they remain unemployed after this lockdown has been released.

All are businesses that were already on life support before the virus hit.

Companies like JC Penney saw their sales decline when they embraced LGBTQSVCQT and whatever other letters they use! They went woke, now they’re going broke.

Sears once had a distribution chain that could deliver to any town in the entire country. Had they put their catalog online early and focused on that, they would be where Amazon is today.

They focused on competing with every other peddler of cheep Chinese crap in a mall and now they’re hosed.

The sad thing about Sears is that it started out as a mail order catalog company. Expanding out to the Internet should have been natural to that. If it had embraced the Internet for sales it could have become what Amazon is.

I went to a Petvalue yesterday ,they made me stand by the door in a 4 foot by 4 foot taped off area and I had to tell them what I wanted(we can’t let you in the 2 employees said) I wanted and when they put the food on the counter I pulled out my cash and they said we don’t take cash ,I said thanks and left . Why are they even open ?

I think JC Penny went gay, so no surprise with that one.

Sears, Penny’s only 2 around, I’m not attempting a 2 h round trip to stores with no electric carts. I can barely walk now. Nothing I need. That is 1 problem a near 72 yr old woman or man has it all. Common complaint of ou kids, you have what you need, what do we get you. Try a family dinner out. Suggest Steak.

I’m sure poor management decisions, slowness to adapt to changing business models and virtue signaling had nothing to do with their demise.
