An After-Action Repository - Cataloging Constitutional Excesses Throughout the US
No Source | 04/13/2020 | Vanity

I'm starting a thread so that we can collect specific examples of Mayors, County Executives, and Governors exceeding their authority or otherwise improperly curtailing your freedom.

This whole thing was a test, and many governors failed. Mayors certainly did.

This thread is to pile up specific examples of these excesses so that the weight of them perhaps can be brought to bear on some of these . . . statesmen and women.

I'll start: In my city the mayor decided to ban construction activity, and yet the city road crews were out in force getting the roads build (under city contract).

Interestingly, however, they banned plastic shopping bags about two months ago. Many argued this was an unsanitary alternative to helping climate change. No sooner did we go into 'dictator-mode' than the plastic bags were bag without comment.

And no bag fee either.

I live in the People's Soviet of Washington. I know that Wolf in PA is enjoying himself, and the Governor in NJ and in WA are having a ball as well.

What are your observations? These politicians are doing these things as if life will go on like this forever, and nobody is going to hold them accountable for it.

This thread is an effort to collect the evidence and ensure that doesn't happen.

Denying meds to the sick is what bothers me. It’s between you and your doctor...not you and the governor. NYS!!

THIS is what Congress needs to investigate — all the various fed dept. and state and local preparation failings. Not Trump.

A President will exit, but those entities will remain.

Gretchen “Half” Whitmer, governor of Michigan, banning the sale of paint, garden seeds and supplies, floor coverings, and requiring that stores admit no more than four people per 1,000 sq. ft. of floor space in stores.

Stores must also cordon off the areas dedicated to the above listed contraband and cannot count that floor area when calculating how many to let in the store.

That’s why I’m doing this.

People in this country think the President is the most powerful executive in the land.

He’s not - your Mayor is. They directly impact life in your berg. Many of them are dolts.

Liberals blame Trump for everything and all they have to do is look at their own local loco politicians. But they won’t. As far as Mexifornia is concerned they’ve closed parks and beaches but it doesn’t affect me cause I live in the wilderness and have beautiful vistas from every spot on my property. I don’t feel hemmed in but I am mourning my country and it’s deep dive into despotism.

Tiny Estill, South Carolina: Town council decided nobody could leave their house after 9 pm. If you do need to leave, you can’t take your gun with you. Now, what does that have to do with this virus?

Drop the anecdotes in here.

In WA State, you can’t golf or fish. You can’t fish. You can boat, but you can’t fish. You can’t kayak either.

In Edmonds, WA, you may not wear your gun even if you have a concealed carry permit. By order of the Mayor.

Ya’ll might do a little research on the police powers reserved to the states. It was discussed at the 1787 Federal Convention.

If you, as I, have a problem with the extent of closures and prohibitions, then hammer your local/state politicians without reserve. Let them know how politically expendable they are.

Oh, and such political matters should not be decided in courts. We remain a self-governing people.
