Go to this site, data is plotted on a logarithmic scale for easy inspecting the magnitudes, pick 3rd chart down, select deaths to plot, see USA , then Sweden.

Both countries curves of deaths per million of population overlay almost exactly over time. Both curves are are trending to flatten out at 200 deaths per million , that's a little over 60,000 in USA... way off from the hysterical 2 million, and Sweden with NO business restrictions shows the same rate of deaths per day normalized to population as USA , way different than the narrative that we must end capitalism and dress in burka’s the rest of our life's to be ”safe”.

For more informative data, it would be worth noting the population density of Stockholm versus New York City. In fact, the population of Sweden compared to the population of NYC is an eye opener. It is like comparing sugar beets to big apples.

Disagree. It's not the information I seek, anyway. I want to know if we had to shutdown the country, like Fauci et.al said. Comparing it to Sweden, the answer is obviously, "No." They said end of the world for Sweden, even got Trump to spout it. What a giant crock of shiite. They lied to us. And killed the economy on purpose. Based on, "We have no choice!!!" Yes, we did. Many of us here and elsewhere said look at Sweden...!? And we were disparaged mightily. Well, TOLD YA SO!!!! (NYC is an outlier. They did some stupid things early on; also many other differences between NYC and, well, durn near anywhere else in the country. Not going to argue NYC--not the point of this thread. No hijacking please 😀. Start your own NYC v Sweden thread lol.)

Native Swedes are not like us. When their government says try working from home, they work from home. When their government says maintain social distancing, they maintain social distancing. The government doesn’t have to lock things down because the Swedes follow what government tells them. It’s their nature.

Thank you! Many of us here said it would not be end of the world, and we were thoroughly trashed. Even a few days ago.

We were right. They were wrong. We shut the country down needlessly.

Fauci lied, again. And convinced Trump to buy into it. Maybe he’ll finally realized he’s got incompetents in charge.

Why is no one looking at overall mortality? We know death cause coding is confounding CV-19 with comorbidities that last year were reported without CV-19 in the picture.

So we have no idea of the “delta” from CV-19.

Here’s the point by way of example.

2019 Jan-Mar Deaths from Flu, Pneumonia, COPD and CHF were ( let’s say ) 80,000 and 0 from CV-19

2020 Jan-Mar Deaths from Flu, Pneumonia, COPD and CHF were ( let’s say ) 60,000 and 20,000 from CV-19

Can we draw any inferences from that?

Ok, yesterday there were 745 new deaths in the US, 671 of them were in the state that Andrew Cuomo restricted use of hydroxychloroquine to patients in packed hospitals only. New York pharmacies were prohibited from filling prescriptions for the drug written by personal physicians. 671 New Yorkers died out of a total of 745 for the whole country! I only wish there was an opportunity to recall that criminal!

Per Norseman:

As for Sweden, their numbers are worse than ours, per Worldometer:

US: 69 deaths per million; Sweden: 91 deaths per million US: 36 serious or critical per million; Sweden 86 serious or critical per million

Although we lead in cases per million (1,705 vs. 1,084), we’ve also tested 60% more people per million. But Sweden is likely to have less cases proportionately due to our more congested cities.

So we have no idea of the “delta” from CV-19.

I saw a thread on Free Republic that stated the normal "at home" death rate for New York city was 20-24 people per day. The thread also stated that the recent "at home" death rate was over 220 per day.

I do not know if these numbers are accurate, but if they are, it's hard to argue the virus isn't responsible for the change.

Population density is a very valid comparison when you compare COVID-19 activity in Sweden with the U.S.A. It is much more valid than screeching,"We have no choice!!!," and "TOLD YA SO!!!!".

Why is NYC an outlier? Two simple observations include population density and mass transit as factors for intense spread of COVID-19.

My comments are on topic for this thread. They just don't fit your parrot agenda. lol.

When their government says accept Muslims, they accept Muslims.

671 New Yorkers died out of a total of 745 for the whole country!

That means 90% of the Corona deaths in. the whole country are coming out of NY.

Blah, blah, blah, NY, blah.

Told ya so!! Sweden is fine, against Fauci-fluffer predictions. Which means...

USA shutdown most of the country, thereby screwed the economic pooch, for no actual reason, as some of us predicted.

We were right, the “Sweden is doooooomed” crowd of Fauci fluffers were absolutely wrong.

NYC blah blah blah...blah.... don’t care.

virus absolutely is responsible for increased mortality.
How much is absolute increase and how much is category-shifting? I have no idea if category shifting is minimal or meaningful. No Data. My point.

The government doesn’t have to lock things down because the Swedes follow what government tells them. It’s their nature.

It's also their nature to think what the government tells them to think. They're heavily marinated in conformity and leftist groupthink.

The slightest suggestion that their immigration policy is misguided leads to unofficial persecution and marginalization, and sometimes official persecution.

In 2004, a pastor named Åke Green was sentenced to 30 days (overturned) for preaching against homosexuality.

Infection rate trends as a percent of the local/regional population are one key to lifting isolation. The relapse rate also needs to be addressed (was the person ever really over the virus, was there a true re-infection due to mutation, or was there a false negative test)? A big concern is opening travel. Locations with historically low rates will undoubtedly be seeded via travel to/from locales with higher infection rates.

There is no simple answer. Ultimately, successfully cranking up businesses again will rely on availability for rapid, reliable testing and treatment, particularly when COVID-19 flare-ups occur.
