one of the women doctors on this site said even in her own hospital they do not use zinc “because most people here are fine with their zinc levels”. SHe felt that was correct...sometimes I wonder if doctors are more closed minded to what they believe and are not open to the possibility they could be wrong.

My personal opinion is the body needs the extra zinc to fight this. There have been older research studies that show zinc tremendously help kill virus. Those in France have a higher diet with zinc so it may have done decent there because of that fact but the doctor here in New York had the extraordinary results because he did use zinc.

People should have the courage of their convictions to stand up.

That is a factual misrepresentation of what one is the woman sixties said. She actually said that zinc administrations is not required because zinc deficiency is extremely rare in the United States and in clinical medicine. Additionally all icu patients are on balanced feeding with appropriate amounts of trace elements including zinc

Zinc is not a part of our critical care protocols and 24 of 24 of my patients have survived using HCQ and azithromycin. They were vented
As well meaning that the death rate of vented patients is not 80 or 90 %

Your factual misrepresentation of what true woman doctor says smacks
Of misogyny and arrogance. I am glad that your personal opinion allows you to impugn medical experts as close minded and not open to the possibility of being wrong

Please by all means share with me your clinical background and treatment of these patients. Otherwise your personal opinion is dangerous and misinformed.

I’ve used a specific brand of zinc gluconate to stop colds for over fifteen years. Zinc acetate has replaced that to stop a cold when the scratchiness shows up in your throat. Neither work if a sore throat doesn’t precede a cold.

North Jersey is code for New York. In the real NJ, where I’m from, nothing even remotely like this is happening. I call bullshit.

Thanks Doc!

Really enjoy your posts. For those of us not in medicine, the lack of zinc in many treatments seemed like a disconnect. Thanks for clearing this up. It will be great to see what the final judgement on HCQ is once all the data are in.

(FWIW, I was the one who asked the other doctor about zinc, but I didn’t criticize her reply!)

NYC is sending WuFlu patients Upstate, including a couple who have died while Upstate.

Is NYC sending WuFlu patients to NJ, too?

If so, why?

North Jersey is code for not South Jersey. The real NJ, where I grew up, never spoke of a Central Jersey and had only two area codes.

"closed-minded" was the first thing that came to mind, too.

At the danger of hearing "misogyny and arrogance", have they ever thought that maybe the "correct" amount of zinc is not enough for the body under assault of Covid-19? Other people have. Other people have. One group (of which two are women) did such research as long ago in 2014. More positive research has been. See what they found below.

Why is that some doctors don't research themselves to see what is new or not so new.

Mrs. RWA had a difficult UTI. She and I combed the internet and found that many women on their own found that D-Mannose helped them. We searched for research and we found this: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/27424995

We went together to her male doctor appointment. She brought up D-Mannose, and he with his closed-mind told us it won't help, with a scornful voice. We didn't want to argue with him when we hear the door of his mind slam shut. We knew he wouldn't want to listen. God-like attitude.

Next appointment, guess who looked into it and found the research? He told her to keep using it. Mrs. RWA said, "But you told me it was no good." He said, "Well, I looked at the research.

It is troubling that the patients these days can learn more about their ailment than their doctor knows. They stick to what they learned a few years ago and don't keep up with their specialty. BTW, I would accuse him with "misogyny and arrogance."

She now has a new female doctor who knows about new treatments.

I do not have clinical background, but I was trained in my Physics major training to keep an open mind. Things change. I used that in my 40 years of teaching Chemistry and AP Physics.

UMMM first off THEY DID SAY THEY DID NOT USE ZINC BECAUSE MOST HAVE ADAQUATE IN THEIR BODY so no I did NOT misquote and YES there are many doctors who feel they know all without doing any further research into the possibility of the new.

I am THRILLED you have 24 out of 24 patients doing well! But the doctor I was referring to felt the protocol of HCQ and azithromycin wasn’t doing much for their patients (per their comment) so all I was saying was maybe the ZINC could play a bigger part than they thought....absolutely nothing wrong with my comment that sometimes doctors feel things can only be done one way.

SO SHUT THE HECK UP!!!! and quick being a total tool! Nothing I said was arrogant or misleading and I AM A WOMAN so what is with the misogyny????????

1. Women are capable of misogyny
2. I am calling out your statement that doctors are either unwilling to admit they are wrong or close minded.
3. this implies that you believe that doctors will not change with appropriate evidence, nothing can be further from the truth
4. I believe that this presents evidence from an unnamed source in an unnamed area that is vaguely a part of a hotline
5. Dont yell at me because of your words. I am tired of all the arm chair quarterbacking from people who are in touch with Dr. Google
6. MomMD and the other doctors on this board including me are experts based on our training and experience
7. Everyone else appears to be experts based on what the can read and most of it is garbage. The majority of suggestions are either clinically impossible or crazy on their face.

What you aid impugning all doctors as being closed minded or think they are always right was insulting, impugning, and arrogant, regardless of you taking. position that it was not. Stop calling me a tool and look within yourself.

Have a pleasant afternoon

1- LOL could care less about the person’s sex- you sound like a snowflake

2- are you kidding me? There are tons of people who can tell you there are doctors who are closed minded with a God like attitude and if you were honest with yourself you would admit there are those who exist

3- again stupid comment. Of course there are doctors who are open to other things and there are those who have done the same thing for years and tears and feel their way is the only way.

4-?? have no idea what you are referring to. I was referiing to an actual freeper saying this.

5- not yelling only emplasizing

6- happy you are “experts” but that has nothing to do with the comment that MAYBE zinc plays a bigger role than we think

NEVER IMPUGNED A SINGLE DOCTOR- I only said they maybe should consider zinc plays a larger role. And I did look within myself and STILL CONSIDER YOU A TOOL...an EXPERT TOOL at that!

no one criticized her comment...we mostly wondered if the doctors in general had considered that maybe zinc plays a bigger part than anyone realizes.

Anecdotal, anonymous with few details. If this post is accurate, it’s obviously one hospital in north Jersey. Nothing in south Jersey is anything like this.

doctors are more closed minded to what they believe and are not open to the possibility they could be wrong. Your exact words. Then you hide behind tons of people tell you that doctors are...blah blah blah, You are the one who put this put there. If you want to be a lemming and hide behind the teenager argument but other people say it -- so be it. I have explained WHY zinc cannot be used and yo rigidly hold on to MAYBE zinc plays a role -- It seems to me that as someone said there are those who "are more closed minded to what they believe and are not open to the possibility they could be wrong." Sound like a perfect description of you. If you want to respond to the facts presented please do, otherwise maybe you should admit and adapt to evidence that has been given. Good day.

Gas-dr,

My EXACT words are as follows— “SOMETIMES I WONDER IF doctors are more closed minded to what they believe and are not open to the possibility they could be wrong”

and yes sometimes I do wonder that...I woinder that NOT for teenage argument sake (your words), but because I have experienced it and because family has experienced it. I am in awe you have decided I am completely “wrong, arrogant and misogynistic” for WONDERING about it solely based on the fact YOU have apparently never experienced a doctor with a God like attitude or one who doesn’t change a regimen because that is what they have always done. There is much more than you and your little bubble of a world out there.

You have just posted “I have explained WHY zinc cannot be used” and then proceed to say “and you rigidly hold on to MAYBE zinc plays a role.” well sir, you reveal yourself as the arrogant one, because the doctor in New York, who met with the President, said ZINC played a definite role in the successfulness of the regimin and Trump has said the same...so dear sir, WHO IS HOLDING TO THEIR CLOSED MINDED BELIEFS? I was simply putting out that MAYBE they should reconsider the usage of extra zinc being needed and possibly having a synergy type effect...

I invite you to take a good hard look at your arrogant self in the mirror and pluck that beam out of your own eye.

Good day to you too...

The Doctor in NY is treating outpatient cases. He has offered Class 2B data (possible beneficial, not harmful). I again ask how we are supposed to route zinc in intubated patients with dobhoff tubes that will not permit heavy particulate matter to go through it.

It is abundantly clear that you fail understand the vast spectrum of medicine, and your one size fits all armchair practicing and advice to professionals is both arrogant and close minded. I am aware of the studies, I am aware of the limitations. I am also aware that you engage in when someone disagrees with you, it is because they are close minded.

Please, by all means, your clinical credentials are?

To: gas_dr

oh dear God, you are absolutely ridiculous! and I tire of your childness...

I did not play armchair quarterback! I was not questioning zinc being put into intubated patients and at no time we were we even talking about intubated patients. The dosage has not even been discussed as far as success when it gets that far so please do not put words in my mouth.

I made ONE statement in which I stated that I sometimes wonder if doctors can at times become close minded and not be open to the possibility of being wrong...ONE STATEMENT ... and you have made such a massive fuss over one simple statement.

In your utter high mindedness, you cannot accept the fact that MAYBE there is a doctor in this world who is NOT open to viewing things from a different perspective. You clearly believe EVERY SINGLE DOCTOR in the entire world is perfect and anyone who even remotely questions anything concerning a doctors decision is wrong and arrogant because we, the “uneducated” in your mind, should not dare to question a doctor.

Well, sir, I do not need to have clinical credentials to question decisions by doctors just as you do not need political credentials to question government decisions. Each and every one of us has the right to question why.
