1. All deaths are Corona deaths - NY just changed over 1000 deaths to Corona deaths, I assume so hospitals can get extra money. But the alternative reason is to justify tyrannical lockdowns.
2. State by state lockdown variations - I greatly respect that Trump is following the constitution and letting states set their own lockdown rules. Look for Dem states to have extended lockdowns and for them to be rigidly enforced - all in the name of “protecting the people”.
3. Cultural changes - I saw a healthy young family walking in the park with masks on. I can tell you that is not the norm in Texas and I hope it isn’t the norm.

Hospitals are clearing their books of all indigent cases while the Feds are still willing to pay for them. Some uninsured guy who died of a gunshot would in January has surely been reclassified as a COVID victim.

You are exactly correct. If Trump would announce strong audits of reported covid deaths and charge for fraud I wonder what would happen to the numbers?

In my travels yesterday,I was pleasantly surprised. When you threaten Texans livelihoods ingenuity goes in high gear. Think Prohibition plus the internet. I talked to two retailers that say their “bootlegging” is going so well they may not open up their storefronts again.
Highly likely, especially is there is a "bounty" for each Covid death in the stimulus package.
Wondering if it is possible to smoke out the hype in the NYC numbers by comparing Y-O-Y deaths in NYC for March or April of this year with March or April of prior years. Is there an actual statistically significant difference in the raw count?

My daughter is an ICU nurse. One of the main frustrations that she has with her job is having to deal with hospital administrators who are essentially bean counters. They understand a lot about spreadsheets and payables, but next to nothing about healthcare.
You can rest assured that they never miss a trick when it comes to shoving the costs of indigent care onto somebody else (Witness Michelle Obama’s $300K job redirecting those patients to other hospitals).

If the bodies were found in a house or nursing home, why would a hospital get anything? That’s what was added to the count: Bodies found outside a hospital setting.

People have been dying in their homes trying to ride out the pandemic. Often testing isn’t available due to overwhelming demand.
In NYC, firefighters and EMS are picking up people found dead at home across the city on a daily basis in three figures.
I know someone who is awaiting test results north of NYC and the son who is autistic is awaiting a test time. The mom has been suffering with chest ailment and probably should be in the hospital already. If things go south and based on doctors reports it can happen quickly, she’d probably never make it to the hospital in time.
