It turns out that, when it comes to the Wuhan flu, sunlight is the best disinfectant

Yes sunlight kills the virus on surfaces that get sunlight directly, which most of the cells of the human body infected with Covid-19 do not.

The author’s premise is like saying take all the shit in your house and set it out on the lawn during mid day; that will “disinfect” all your stuff.

Forget that you will not wear gloves most of the time when you go out, and will forget to wash your hands as soon as you come home, and will proceed to touch all your shit that was brought in from the lawn, and start depositing on it all the microbes your hands picked up.

You cannot turn your body inside out, take a sun bath and kill whatever “bugs” have invaded your body.

Sunlight may kill Covid-19 but sunlight is not going to kill a Covid-19 epidemic. MOST Covid-19 infecting people never sees sunlight.

Sunlight produces vitamin D which is inside the body. A Freeper’s post claimed there’s been no severe cases that had adequate vitamin D. And then the vast majority of deaths — maybe close to all — are unhealthy, fat, diabetic, etc. The death rate for children under 4 is almost 0 and nearly all show no symptoms when they get it. This is a VERY WEAK VIRUS.

Yes. You are right.

I was being facetious. Flippant.

However, in my defense, the author did not proceed to the Vitamin D part. His point was merely that sunlight kills the virus. I found his bare idea was flippant.

Isn’t this kind of old news? I mean wasn’t it found why back during the 1918 aka Spanish Flu pandemic that the best results for recovery where from patients that got lots of sun and fresh air? And isn’t that why all flu tend to disappear when Spring and Summer weather hit?

“In 2017, researchers published a review of the features and treatment of vitamin D toxicity-induced acute kidney injury.

They studied the experiences of 19 people with the toxicity. Each had taken an average of 6,000,000 IU of the vitamin over 1–3 months.”

That’s an entire bottle every day for 1 to 3 months.

“Sunlight produces vitamin D which is inside the body.”

That’s true, but various studies have shown that it’s very difficult to achieve therapeutic levels of D from sun exposure alone. One study of lifeguards found that virtually none of them achieved a level of at least 50 ng/ml. Sunscreen, genetics, age, etc. all impact production of D. Supplementation and periodic testing help assure that therapeutic levels are reached and not exceeded.

There was an article on FR earlier about only 18% of democrats would take chloroquine if they had the coronavirus.

Even less would expose themselves to sunlight.
