These people don’t know how to teach their own children. Pretty pathetic. Just read to them. Have them balance your checkbook. Have them color pictures. Teach them about life. Go to you tube and get free piano lessons. Have them watch history videos. Read the Bible.

Notice that the non-family situations get exacerbated the closer the people live to a large city. Boston’s mentioned early in the article.

Absolutely! Home school doesn’t have to be complicated, nor does it have to be a regimented stay in your chair fest for 6 hours at a time. They can go through coupons and learn to figure out whether or not there are actually any savings involved, or not. Basic math and logic. Finding information needed to make a decision. Take them grocery shopping and have them figure the cost per pound and or ounce and decide which is the better buy..the large or the small. Takes math. Teach them to cook. Double or triple the recipe or cut it in half..fractions. got older kids? Involve tjem in household projects like figuring out how much concrete is needed for the new border around the pool or garage floor. Science/chemistry..making compost, operating a worm bin, cooking again..chemistry
Why sugar or why vinegar in the milk for bisquits?

The point is, everything we do in everyday life involves knowledge of education , logic, science, chemistry, reading, history...why ee do this instead of that. Genealogy involves history. Why did our ancestors move to America? Whay was going on in their world that they ewould leave behind everything and everyone they knew to go to a place where nothing is familiar?

Practical lessons...and a little desk learning. Creativity and experimentation..expand the mind and soul, discover freedom.
