are the snowflakes who believe it takes a village and mom and dad are not part of the teaching process as they want someone else to do it.

Bingo, just as they have been programmed to think.
My son did go to public school, but his education was my responsibility.
His teachers (particularly history) remarked that he already knew much of the material.
He learned to think for himself and is not like many of his age cohorts.
I salute you for taking responsibility!!
Still, I felt American history teaching was my responsibility, especially for holidays like July 4th. Sometimes, we would even include our Japanese friends in on the celebration because kids love an opportunity and excuse to shoot off fireworks.
One year, when my middle daughter was in 4th grade, I asked the assembled audience if anyone knew why we celebrated the 4th. She put up her hand and gave a recitation that would have made Ben Franklin proud. After the party was over and the guests had gone home, I asked her how she knew all that, because I sure didn't remember teaching it to her.
She astounded me further by saying she learned it in school and brought her world history text to prove it. Sure enough, the Japanese were doing a better job teaching their kids about the founding of our country than our schools are doing. I was pleasantly shocked.
