Think of it as a conveyor line, and the pigs at the very front of the conveyor are blocked from being removed (slaughtered) and there are still sows in the farrowing rooms giving births. The conveyor can’t be stopped, so something has to give.
Sad solution to the problem is going to be hundreds of thousand of pigs killed, and probably just buried.
BTW I raised 250,000 pigs before I sold my farm.
I’ve noticed in the past week that people are now buying up and hoarding bacon like toilet paper.
Shelves are empty around here.
