Welcome mat at Florida home read, ‘come back with a warrant,’ so deputies did and found drugs

A welcome mat at the front door of a Florida home read “come back with a warrant” — and that’s just what deputies did before finding drugs and drug paraphernalia inside.

The Daytona Beach News-Journal reports the home in Palm Coast was part of an investigation into illegal drugs. After seeing the doormat, authorities say the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office got the warrant. Deputies found fentanyl and drug paraphernalia inside during a search late last week.

A welcome mat with those words, though stupid, would not constitute probable cause justifying issuance of a warrant. They had other evidence of illegal activity in the house.

Don't discourage the jokesters with facts, bro! :-)

My dad has one of those mats. It was a gag gift.

Daddy is 83 now. About 10 years ago he decked a guy for calling his mom a b-word. We do not use that language in our family. There were witnesses. Daddy asked for an apology and the guy repeated the statement. So daddy at age 73 decked the 64 year old over twice daddy’s size. Guy filed charges and the offense was doubled as “elder abuse” since the other guy was over 60.

Cops came to the house and arrested daddy. Case ended up thrown out of court but it took 3-4 years. Daddy’s brother bought him the rug as a joke.
