In a series of radio interviews this week, SEC commissioner Greg Sankey was clear that the goal for college football next season is for all 130 major programs, interconnected from coast to coast, to be playing.
The hope is we all move along together, Sankey said or reiterated on The Paul Finebaum Show and 1010XL in Jacksonville, Florida.
The SEC doesnt want a season where the Pac-12 doesnt play, or the Mid-American Conference doesnt play or even a third of the Big Ten sits out. It wants all the Saturdays full, a complete bowl season and, of course, a contested playoff and national championship. Sankey doesnt want the SEC to go it alone. But could the SEC go it alone? It sure could. There is room for different conferences to make different decisions, Sankey said.

I never doubted the SEC and figured their commitment would shame all others.
I hate to think any parts of the country will still be on lockdown by late August/early September, when college football normally starts up. But who knows. Nobody wants to commit to anything because we are still in a fluid situation with the virus and lockdowns.
Georgia season ticket holder since 1983. SEC SEC SEC!!!
Penn State fan here, and I have a feeling Phil Murphy and New Jersey/ Rutgers will hold the rest of the B1G hostage.
I think if there are Wuhan flu issues, they will occur starting mid-November. I am also worried about how well the players are going to be conditioned since they have been banned from working out in their gyms.
I am particularly concerned about neck strength. That is a tough area to strengthen without machines.
As an Ohio State fan and alum, I readily acknowledge the superiority of all things SEC and Clemson in football.
I hope we still have our game in Happy Valley :)
Bet the Dems make certain theres no CFB so they can blame orange man bad at the election.
the only issue i see is the PAC 12 and maybe the Mountain West- and those teams already play in from of empty stadiums...
northeast?? There’s only Boston College UConn and Rutgers up here, and the latter two don’t count...
Time to crash the NCAA?
Time to crash the NCAA?
Does this guy know that’s there’s such things as contracts?
Maybe all football games will have to be held at Beaver Stadium so people can spread out. Alabama and Michigan also have large stadiums to utilize.
Come on up! Whos your team?
I don’t care what it takes. I don’t care if we have to wait until the Spring to play. I don’t care if they have to play in empty stadiums. The one thing is that this season MUST be played. Must.
As an Alumni for The Ohio State University.
I did agree with your opinion.
