In a poll such as this one, it's likely that several influences could be at work and may explain the huge discrepancies between those who identify as either conservatives or liberals.

Adherence to the party line would be the simplest answer, if you are an Occam fan. Trump wants to put the country back to work while a number of Dems want to wait a while.

What I read into this poll is reinforcement of an attitude toward government I've observed ever since my high school years: Democrats, as a whole, really are in love with government at all levels as long as it pretends to give them stuff, protect them from floods, fire and being evicted for missing their rent payments, and make those evil capitalists contribute more than their fair share of the costs of running an ever-larger government. They by and large trust government agencies to "do the right thing," which of course could mean, as observed in comments above this one, those agencies are well-stocked with like-minded Democrats, socialists and progressives.

Conservatives, on the other hand, have a long tradition of distrusting government actions, particularly when their own freedom of movement is affected. (Exceptions are numerous and very often religious in nature, so I won't even attempt to rationalize prohibition, Sunday closures, censorship and various other nanny-state measures which have enjoyed support from Republican leaders of the past.)

This divide can also be seen in polls that are "broken down by sex," where more often than not we see a larger percentage of women taking the Democrat position on matters of welfare, income disparities and, of course, "women's health issues."

How much these surveys are influenced by TV news, popular magazines and FaceBook groups is anybody's guess.

Anybody?

Liberals live off mommy and daddy or have trusts or are “students” or make their wages renting out as rioters or they live off of the academy or work for the government and don’t have to hustle for a living- their income is uninterrupted in good times and bad.

From the 1981 movie “ARTHUR” starring Dudley Moore and Liza Minelli...

Arthur (Moore)...sitting outside his father’s downtown office waiting room in a skyscraper.. “Hobson, I hate it here.”

Hobson (Arthur’s valet -John Gielgud) “Of course you hate it. People WORK here.”

Personal affluence is the greatest enemy of Marxism.

Thanks to HotHunt for the above great visual!

If people want to stay home, let them! NO ONE wants to force them to go out!

Easy - if you as a small business owner don’t feel safe - Don’t open!

Easy - If you as an individual don’t feel safe with things opening up - Don’t go out.!

You can fool some of the people all the time, and all the people some of the time, but 69% of liberals are always wrong.

You are simply incorrect. I wish the stay at home orders were lifted and everyone could return to work. But I would still wear a mask if I lived in a community with a lot of infections.

I was being a bit facetious in that post. However your comment, "This has NOTHING to do with liberal vs conservative" is in fact ridicules. At this point, everything about this Chinese virus is political. This thing is being driven hard by the leftist, lying media, controlling leftist politicians, etc.

Pay attention.

How about you wear one if you want, and dont if you dont?

Whoops, not quite. You made my point. In many cases now, stores, airlines etc are baring entry to those not wearing a mask. One has little choice in many venues.
