A host of celebrities and scientists including Madonna, Robert de Niro and a clutch of Nobel Prize winners have called for radical change in the world rather than 'a return to normal' after the coronavirus lockdowns.
Hollywood stars Cate Blanchett, Jane Fonda, Marion Cotillard and Monica Bellucci also added their names to the open letter published in the French daily Le Monde.
The signatories are pleading for an end to unbridled consumerism and a 'radical transformation' of economies to help save the planet.
The movement has been penned and led by actress Juliette Binoche and astrophysicist Aurélien Barrau.
A full list of the 200 signatories is published in this article (below).

The irony.
Fine, start with you.
Hear ye, hear ye. Those who follow other gods have been destroying reality, everyday; since the beginning.
They do the bidding of their master, so like him they want to kill, steal and destroy.
Obviously they do not want life to return to normal; never wanted normal; never wanted what our Father created; want to destroy what Father made.
Yep, you can bet they aren’t gonna start with “The Man In The Mirror”.
Le Monde...riiiiight. The Denver Post has a larger circulation.
When the world needs a light to guide them, read the wisdom contained in Le Monde...

Screw them.
“The signatories are pleading for an end to unbridled consumerism”
Consumerism is how you got rich.
These people can afford not to care about consumerism after consumerism made them rich beyond their wildest dreams
Remember most of these actors became famous playing a role/character that wasn’t them in real life.
Easy to relate to that, but in reality most are leeches and sleeze bags....
They got theirs through consumerism and now they don’t want anyone else to join them...elitists!
“The signatories are pleading for an end to unbridled consumerism...”
After making millions acting as paid spokespersons for unbridled consumerism for decades.
Yeah, you don’t even need to do it wholly with animation. You could shoot any random person with about the same body and head shape as, say, Bobby DeNiro, then feed a bunch of footage of DeNiro to an AI and the AI can digitally put DeNiro’s face on the stand-in. A little more work and you can put DeNiro’s voice in there too, saying whatever you want him to say.
Since the computer is just rendering one small part of the shot, it’s a lot less processor-intensive than trying to model and animate an entire movie, and the AI will do at least 80% of the work for you once you train it properly.
A smarter America? For the first time I agree with them about something!
But would the company have to pay DeNiro for using his likeness??? With the animation, you could just say it’s just a cartoon character...
I read the list...I recognized some names...I have seen their movies...
My reaction is “Whatever”...They are entitled to have their silly opinions...Even Monica Bellucci...I have seen her movies...I saw her for the first time in MALENA (2000)...She was good in the movie...
Some actors take themselves way too seriously...
Relax...Consider yourself lucky for being able to do a job, that you like, and make lots of money in the process...There are people, who do not enjoy their jobs, and do not make lots of money in the process...
Come on, actors, you should thank people for letting you do the job that you like and make lots of money...I would say the same thing for professional athletes...
Saw today that De Niro wants to play “Sonny” Cuomo in a film about COVID-19.
