'Every One of Them': California Begins Forcibly Quarantining People – Separating Families – Over COVID-19

On Wednesday, the soft voice of Ventura County Health Director Robert Levin confirmed that the forcible quarantines are underway. He announced a “pilot program that will grow into a larger program” and “we will find everyone with COVID-19 and

we will isolate every one of them and we will make sure that they stay quarantined and we will check in with them every day. In other words, what this program means is we’re going to do a more complete job, we’re going to do a more meticulous job of making it less and less possible for others in the county to run into someone with COVID-19 infection.”

But back to the contact “investigators,” as Levin called them.

Levin said that we also realize that as we get more contacts, “some of the people are going to have trouble with being isolated, for instance, if they live in a home where there’s only one bathroom, and there are three or four other people living there and those people don’t have COVID infection we’re not going to be able to keep the person in that home.

Every person whom we’re isolating, for instance, needs to have, uh, their own bathroom. And so we’ll be moving people like this into other kinds of housing that we have available. They’ll also have other needs perhaps – food, whatever it’s going to be – the county will be there to back them up and to support them.”

The lawsuits are coming. Lots of lawyers are going to make lots of money. That money will come from taxpayers like you and me.

Quarantining well people has been very common. History shows that the first example of quarantines involved ships arriving in ports.

Your example demonstrates the opposite of what you are claiming. Ships arriving at port were assumed to be infected until a proper quarantine showed that they weren't. That is a good part of what a quarantine is for - to protect a healthy city from potentially unhealthy newcomers. What we are doing today is more analogous to allowing the ship to dock and the inhabitants to enter the city, but telling all the city inhabitants to stay at home.

But what if these people show up at a contact’s door and demand the contact tale a test...what then?

say get off my property. Perhaps show the business end of a shot gun if unconvinced

We’re talking about actual infected people with symptoms...

Uh, no. They are talking about quarantining people who test positive. One can be "infected" and exhibit no symptoms. We have been warned there are plenty of asymptotic carriers out here, right?

Who is doing the testing? Who is to say the tests are accurate? There have been plenty of false positives and faulty tests. The Chinese even produced them and exported them to Europe, oddly enough.

What if the authorities suspect you are carrier or a virus "troublemaker"? Might you get a knock on your door and test "positive"? "Come along, Comrade. We have a special quarantine place for you - nice and private, and you have your own personal toilet and free food!" It is not a far stretch to say this contract tracing "army" may eventually be accompanied by special Quarantine Police and arrive in a Black Maria.

This is an open door to tyranny. These SOBs are not even hiding it any more.

My mother was quarantined in 1937 with Scarlett Fever during an outbreak.Sign on the family’s front door etc. It was the norm then. Luckily, it was also the time when sulfa drugs were discovered and that saved her life.

we’re not going to be able to keep the person in that home.

I guess if anyone tests positive they'll concentrate them all into a camp. Probably next to ovens, I mean places of cremation.

There is little difference in assuming that the crew of a ship may be infected and in assuming that those who have associated with an infected person might also be infected.

It defies the history of epidemics to insist that only the sick can be or have been quarantined.

Amazon has some very good books on the Spanish Flu. You might want to do some research.

True, but my point stands - it is not anywhere near as contagious as covid.

We were talking about the current quarantining of healthy people, and now you're talking about something different. If the policy right now was to ask anyone who associated with an infected person to be quarantined, you'd have a point.

But they are demanding an across-the-board, every single man woman and child, stay home or we'll all die quarantine where almost every business and organization is shut down, in every part of the country, whether the people involved have "associated" with an infected person or not. And even after months now of the evidence that this disease is even less dangerous than the flu, THEY HAVEN'T SHOWN THE SLIGHTEST INTEREST IN CHANGING THE POLICY. In fact, a lot of governors and idiots such as Fauci and Gates are talking about extending these policies for a year or more.

The Spanish Flu killed almost 200,000 Americans in a single month. THAT was a problem, and a good reason to impose severe restrictions. We have yet to reach even 1/5 of that in at least a 4 month period, and the vast majority of our deaths are elderly people who had existing life-threatening health problems.

There really is no comparison here between any of the plagues previous to now and this COVID hysteria.

That is a gross exaggeration. There is no jurisdiction that has required every single person to stay home. In all jurisdictions business are still open. One can still leave one’s house. Such hyperbolic claims do not help your case.

LOL. Talk about someone needing to do some research. Hey, you might want to check the news from places like, say, California lately. Regardless of whether the citizenry is obeying, there currently exist stay-at-home orders in the majority of the states in the US right now, exceptions only for "essential" workers and grocery stores.

Actually, you’re the one who needs to do some research. As I said before: “There is no jurisdiction that has required every single person to stay home. In all jurisdictions business are still open. One can still leave one’s house. Such hyperbolic claims do not help your case.”

Yeah, I read the stuff you wrote earlier, and it is obvious that you don’t have a realistic perspective of what is going on right now in most of the country. I strongly suggest you pay attention. You seem to be pushing the idea that if there is still one individual somewhere who can leave his house and one business out there somewhere that is still running, everything must be OK. That is beyond naive.

You do like to make absurdly hyperbolic arguments don’t you?

I like to make logical arguments. I wish that all of the people that I find myself in discussions with were the same, but alas.
