As Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker tries to meet goals for daily COVID-19 testing and contact tracing, he’s not banking on any help from the federal government, he said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” with Jake Tapper.
“I have not been counting on the White House because there have been too many situations in which they’ve made promises not delivered,” Pritzker said. “Very recently they promised a lot of swabs. They’re supposed to arrive today, the first shipment of those. I’m looking forward to that. But what we’re doing is we’re going it alone, as the White House has left all the states to do.”
The governor’s remarks came hours before the Illinois Department of Public Health announced 1,656 new known COVID-19 cases and 57 additional deaths linked to the coronavirus.
That’s fewer than Saturday, when the state reported 2,325 new known cases and 111 more deaths, and Friday, which saw 2,887 cases and 130 deaths reported.
But also down is the number of tests processed over the past day. In a 24-hour period ending Sunday, labs processed 13,653 tests, according to the health department. For Saturday, that number was 16,617 specimens. On Friday, the state announced a record 20,671 processed over the preceding 24 hours.
Illinois officials will continue to increase testing on their own, and are modeling contact tracing practices after Massachusetts’ approach, Pritzker said on CNN.

Putzker doesn’t do anything in Illinois without Madigan’s approval. But Governor Fred Flintstone is more concerned about China.
The Pritzker Famiies main asset, Hyatt Hotels cut a deal to build 60 more Hotels across Red China. Hyatt is the largest International Hotel Chain in China. Putzker takes Billions out of China. Look where he is buying all of the medical supplies that will never be used.
And if the WH was in charge and telling the states exactly what to do and not do, they’d be bitching about that.
Governors think they are presidents until they have to actually run their state in a crisis. Rhen all of a sudden they pass the buck to the president.
He’s only bitching because Trump won’t tell him what to do so he can do the opposite.
Illinois has 102 counties and 77,741 COVID-19 cases reported.
5 Counties have the bulk of the cases =69,190
and 1 of those 5 counties, Cook(home of Chicago) has 52,655.
Stay at home\mask\shutdown the whole state...except for Pritzker’s wife and the Mayor Lightfoot of Chicago.
