Whenever I saw that picture I thought the guys looked uncomfortable having to crouch down to see out the window.

More likely that the astronauts would bring Earth viruses to Mars.

After a week stuck in a spacecraft they were probably enjoying stretching out in that nice, roomy Airstream trailer on a carrier deck.

Send everything to Manchester since Life On Mars had something to do with it.

“After a week stuck in a spacecraft they were probably enjoying stretching out in that nice, roomy Airstream trailer on a carrier deck.”

True. The Mercury craft were even tinier and this was just their “transport pod” to travel in to the largr receiving center for quarantine.
I think it’s kinda odd to have the Pres seal on the trailer, though. I don’t know how often it’s displayed when a Prez is on the other side of it. Might be some kind of protocol I don’t know about.

Maybe some Soviet rocket tech coughed on USSR Mars probes “for good luck”?

(Not that I know much about viruses, but I did hear that Hep C can survive for 6 months in a syringe of blood at room temp. And NASA reactivated Staph bacteria from parts of a NASA Moon probe that an Apollo mission brought back. It was up there for at least a year prior to the Apollo landing.)

Too Late , Antarctica is covered with Martian Stuff

Mars material is pretty evenly distributed over the whole Earth.

It's more accessible in Antarctica because they are more easily seen lying on glaciers, and the glacial flows funnel and congregate the meteorites at chokepoints.
