Not being a lord of any sort, I just hope my survivors can get me one of those GI headstones and a plot in a military cemetery.
From what I have read, pretty true, at least in Western Europe, the Mediterranean and North Africa. Russia was a different story. There the German Army was, in some cases, almost as brutal to the local populations as the SS. One example is the City of Kharkov. The Germans would not feed anyone not working directly for the army. Thousands of Kharkov citizens starves to death as a result of that policy. This also happened in a lot of cities occupied by the German Army in the Soviet Union.

I just left a YouTube which documented Latvian SS (in uniform!) working postwar with the Allies at Nuremberg trials.
That was a different world than today - don’t mistakenly judge the past by the present or you will never understand the lessons of history.
That world is long gone as is the America of that time.

Of course in this era, the Germans thought they were better than everyone else, so I guess they just had varying degrees of this "untermenschen" arrogance.
some of my favorite photos of WWII are the T-34s & IS-2s, crewed by the untermenschen, rolling down the streets of the capital of the Herrenvolke, aka Berlin.
I'm glad the Nazis were defeated, but I wished we could have avoided the Russians becoming so powerful as a result. They seized the eastern half of Europe and kept it for quite a long time.
Of course at the time, the Russians were the only ones strong enough to defeat Hitler, so I guess you have to use the army you brought, rather than the one you wish you had.
IMO, it took the combined military and economic power of the United States, the USSR and the British Empire to defeat Germany in WWII. Without that combination, none were of sufficient strength to do the job alone.
I agree. Like the Confederates, they could whip many times more @$$ than their numbers would warrant, and so we needed quite a lot more people and material to achieve a win.

Sorry about that. I have nothing but the utmost admiration for the fighting ability of the Confederate Army. Their infantry was a cut above the Unions and their cavalry was far superior to the Union Army’s cavalry until the later part of the war.
The only shortcoming in the combat arms was their artillery.
Here the Union Army had edge both in quantity and quality.
