You can find this fun quotation puzzle, to combat early dementia and senility in us baby boomers, in several daily publications. I challenge us with the best ones out there.

The way it works is a letter stands for another letter. For example: AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW (does not apply to today's cryptogram).

Beware, the game is very addictive. If this is your first time, don't be intimidated, you’ll be solving them all within a few days. If you’re stumped, take a break and return to it.

PLEASE DO NOT post the answer in general comments, but DO post your time and how you made out.

You can certainly send your solution to my private reply, or if you need a hint for today’s Cryptogram.

I suggest printing these out and work them on paper. If you need a little help you can copy and paste it to Hal’s Helper below.

You can then work on the puzzle without using pen and paper, but I recommend that you do NOT look at the letter counter.

HAL'S CRYPTOGRAM HELPER

One last request. Feel free to post a fun or clever clue, the more tangential to the quotation the better, but please don’t put the actual words of the quote in the clue.

Nikos, I look forward to these every day! Thank you so much. We always make fun of my dad doing his crossword puzzle in the AM before he does anything else but I find I am the same way with this.

Got this one in under two minutes by getting the first and third words.

About 1 and 1/2 min. Got the 1st word with its double letter. Led to getting the 3rd word which allowed solving the 2nd word. The 2nd word has been showing up in recent puzzles.

Nikos1121, thanks for posting these each day. It’s a good way to get my brain working every morning. Stay safe.

First word will open a path to the other short words, and the rest will follow.

First word is obvious. Ashamed to say the rest took longer than it should.

That was a quick one. I guessed the first word and it went from there.

You signed up today to post a spoiler? Way to go.

Hey, welcome anyway! Maybe ask a mod to nuke that post.

Here's what the solve looks like in yellow:

THE SIMPLE ACT OF PAYING ATTENTION CAN TAKE YOU A LONG WAY. KEANU REEVES

I tried this with the #004800 color code I mentioned previously, but for some reason that does not seem to work, even though HTML says it should. Whatever. Just try [font color="yellow"] (obviously, angle brackets instead of square brackets) and it shows as above. I find this harder to read than the present green shade.

Funny thought... my oldest son was in 2nd grade and Mike Pence had a radio show. We are talking 25 years ago here in Indiana. I called and argued about a school program called Writing To Read he was complaining about. His wife being a teacher. Its purpose was to teach writing, not worry about spelling at that age. He was against it, I thought it was a good program. He basically dissed me.... future Masters dissed.... I have very mixed opinions of him now.

I tried posting it in white but it didn’t work. I think it’s the “hover” directive.

I’m the same way.

I’m trying to figure out how I can post yesterday’s solution, but have it hidden until I hover my cursor over it.

Do you know how?
