Texas has very generous homestead exemptions that are protected in bankruptcy. (With Florida a decent alternative).

Huh? I don't think you're talking about Texas. Texas has no property taxes on residences, it's all county/city/ISD level. And most, if not all of them, have a homestead exemption of $25M, not 100%. So come tax time, it only saves you maybe $500.

That's so far from the truth it's laughable. Real estate taxes in Texas are very high. And haven't you heard of Robin Hood? About half of my real estate taxes go to the state to be given to school districts that don't collect as much local real estate tax money as they want. Over $1.6 Billion in local real estate taxes have been transferred to the state in our district alone. Robin Hood tax? Should be Karl Marx tax.

But we are talking about Bankrutpcy exmeptions here. Not real estate taxes. Perhaps you skimmed over the "protected in bankruptcy"
