NASCAR lineup at Darlington: Starting order, pole for Toyota 500 without qualifying (tonight @ 6pm on FS1)
Sporting News via MSN ^ | 5/20/20 | Jordan Greer

**SNIP**

Unlike a typical race, the Toyota 500 will not have a qualifying run.

The starting lineup will be based on the finishing order from The Real Heroes 400 with one inversion, per NASCAR:

Starting positions 1-20: The top 20 finishers from The Real Heroes 400 will be inverted for the start of the Toyota 500. Starting positions 21-40: The bottom 20 finishers from The Real Heroes 400 will start from their finishing positions for the start of the Toyota 500; any new entries will be placed at the tail of the field.

Ryan Preece, who finished 20th on Sunday, will be on the pole for the Toyota 500 because of the inversion. Ty Dillon, Joey Logano, Clint Bowyer and Ryan Blaney round out the top five for Wednesday's race.

I watched a decent amount of the race on Sunday and it was good to see some types of sports on TV again.

While NASCAR was off, I watched some of the Iracing online events.

It was actually entertaining...

If NASCAR is looking to grow their audience especially with younger fans, they would go all in on the Iracing.

When things get back to normal, have 20-25 actual NASCAR drivers at each track they run on and have fans run qualifying races to make it in the race and then race against actually Drivers....

The technology is pretty good now and it’s only going to get better....

I assume you mean to have the Iracing in addition to the regular NASCAR race?

Hmmm.... so we have some midpack guys at the front, with actual fast guys at the middle for the start of the race. What could possibly go wrong?

One think I liked about NASCAR and IndyCar running iRacing series is that we got to see a few drivers from NASCAR run with IndyCar. And some of them did pretty well.

Word is that Jimmie Johnson is looking to at least run a few road courses with IndyCar after he retires from NASCAR. I’m not a fan of his, but I also know he could draw in a few folks who might not otherwise pay attention to the series.

At Darlington, it wouldn’t matter what order they start. Something still could go wrong.

My fantasy lineup: Elliot, Bowman, Harvick, Hamlin, Truex with Johnson in the “garage”.

Logano to win stage 1. Harvick stage 2. Hamlin and Toyota to win.

But I’m a dummy. So......suggestions?

ALL the sprint car races I ever saw had inverted starts.

Absolutely, run the iRaces on the same weekends as the real races, like Friday or Saturday Night....put it on one of the Fox Sports networks, probably a lot of new sponsors to NASCAR might be interested and a bunch of teenagers or younger would get involved, especially if you money on the line...

Like Friday night before Bristol or Daytona, run the same automated track....and run it all season...

Good picks. I’ve overused 18 (6 races left), 2 (7 races left), and 22 (7 races left). So I’m hoping 9 and 19 and make a respectable run and help me keep pace for the long haul.

I’ll put 2 in my garage as a possible trump card since you appear to be high on him.

By the way, I had Jimmie as my Stage 1 at Darlington#1 on Sunday. Ugh. He had like 200 feet to get me bonus points.

Pretty cool idea. Especially considering the growth of these “E-sports” teams on college campuses. Couldn’t believe it when I saw them while touring with my daughter.

The coverage begins at 6pm, from what I gather. Lots of rain in the area.
