why is “busybody” spelled with a “y” and “business” with an “i”? English is a crazy language.

Why aren't "Business" and "Busybody" pronounced as they are spelled or spelled as they are pronounced?

"Bisness" would be more logical. But then I'd have to say that "mor" is better than "more" and the "silent letters" can of worms would be opened.

Back to COVID-19 in northern CA, the public seems cautious but not freaking out over this (could be the cannabis). Too many drivers wearing masks, though.
