I heard it was half off all DOMESTIC TRAVEL IN JAPAN. So no airfare until you get there.
One of the best family vacations we’ve ever had was a trip to Japan three years ago. Incredible food, amazing architecture, every public garden is a work of art.
I stuck out like a sore thumb, and our mixed-race family got the side eye all of the time, but it’s worth it.
I’m gonna go back, get a bareboat charter, and sail and fish and eat onigiri all summer long. Seriously, if you get the chance, go!
Bump for future reference?
I was set for the last week in March to fly in for two weeks, and the week prior....the airline started dumping flights. The whole thing was cancelled in a matter of hours. Luckily, wasn’t out any cash. Will review the options for 2021, and see what happens then.
Nara is actually a separate community in the Kyoto/Osaka area. One of the world’s largest Buddhas is located there, along with all the deer that wander around the temple. One of them came up behind me and tried to put its nose in one of my pants pockets.
I’d go to Japan in a heartbeat if someone would pay half my airfare. The train system, the hot springs (onsen), the horse races, the scenery, surprisingly good beer, the friendly people, quite a bit of English signage (even if most people don’t speak English)—fantastic country to tour and enjoy, with something new and fascinating around every corner.
I’d like to visit Japan, but even half off is too expensive.
