Spike Lee spoke out in late April against movie theaters re-opening amid the coronavirus pandemic, and now the Oscar winner tells Vanity Fair he most likely will not be going to movie theaters until there is a vaccine for the virus being distributed. Lee is releasing his new film, the Vietnam War drama Da 5 Bloods, straight to Netflix on June 12. The director was supposed to begin production this summer on an adaptation of the graphic novel Prince of Cats for Legendary Pictures, but Lee told Vanity Fair he doesnt see filming on any Hollywood production happening anytime soon.
They aint doing a thing until the vaccine, Lee said. I know Im not going to a movie theater. I know Im not going to a Broadway show. I know Im not going to Yankee Stadium. Corona is a bitch. Corona is not playing. You [expletive] around youre going to get killed, youre going to die. Im not ready to go.

Good dont make one either.
Empty promises. Why didn’t he move to Canada?
Coward.
The Virus sings to Spike: Just like that old 70’s song;
“If you don’t know me by now, you will never, never know me!”
In other words, Spike, it’s too late. The virus has already morphed into over 30 different mutations. Thus, if one gets a vaccine for one form, guess what? There remains a ‘ton’ of mutations yet to be identified and worked with.
At best, we will find ways to treat the symptoms, as they did with AIDs.
I go one better.. I’m hever goingbto a movie theatre again. I hope Hollywood never recovers
We need to stay on the plantations where its safe.
I haven’t been to a movie theater in years. I knew the KungFlu was coming and wanted to be prepared.
Duhhhh...Did he figure that out on his own?
And the world breathes a collective sigh of relief.
A growing trend: Just another little American “man”, frightened beyond words by a waning virus, who is acting more like a scared little b*tch.
I don’t go out to the movies anymore, either.
But my reasons are MORAL versus being a wuss. :)
oh good, now its safe for the rest of us
I think I will never again go to a Spike Lee movie until, oh wait, I’ve never gone to a Spike Lee movie.
I haven’t gone to one in 20 years, what’s the big deal?
I hope the trend for Drive In theaters continues.
This provided a lot of good family memories for me.
Let the new families do the same. The dollar costs are low, the cozy-factor is high.
Im not going back to the theaters until there are some good movies.
LOL! Except outside the US... He’ll be seen at Cannes film festival eating popcorn in the front row theater seats.
